    gmx smtp server problem

I am having problem in all my old Ricoh copiers using gmx smtp server without SSL.
Suddenly, all machines stop working, and we cannot use gmail with SSL.
    Any idea.

    Re: gmx smtp server problem

I used GMS very briefly many years ago. I just revisited my account, and found this:

    Activate/Deactivate POP3/IMAP

To use 3rd party email applications, you need to activate pop3/imap sync in your GMX settings.

POP3/Imap sync is deactivated by default. If you wish to use third party applications or mobile apps to sync your email, you need to activate this feature in your settings.
    • In the E-mail tab, click Settings.
    • Click POP3 & IMAP.
    • Activate the checkbox that says Send and receive emails via external program (Outlook, Thunderbird)..
    • Click Save.

You can now start setting up pop3/imap applications. Please note that this setting will be turned off automatically for security reasons if you do not use pop3/imap for a longer period of time.

You should be able to use gmail. If the customer is a Registered Google Suite user they should be able to use the SMTP relay settings with TLS requirement off. Otherwise you can use the Restricted Gmail SMTP Server aspmx.l.google.com to send to other gmail, Google Suite and Google Apps users.

SSL is now required for GMX.

I have just tried sending an outgoing email from Thunderbird, with the outgoing server set to port 25, but the result it gives me is an authentication error.
Turning on SSL allowed the email through right away.

Yeah, GMX smtp server required SSL, port 465 now, same as other smtp server.
It will not work with older Ricoh, Konica Minolta machines without SSL setting.
Well, go back to scan FTP now.

Most copiers now support SSL so no big deal, any old devices out there simply set up SMB.

SMTP2GO is what I've used for years for Non-ssl machines. very reliable.

Newer models, yes. Older models, controller board cannot support SSL. There still a lot of older machines out there.

As an IT TECH Scan to email is not your problem on older machines get your clients to upgrade there equipment. As email providers continue to change ports and SMTP servers security requirements without notice.

just had this happen, the person handling the email server switched it to SSL and then blamed the older Ricoh copier. some one told himthat upgrading the firmware would make the SSL option appear in the user tool screen... wrong. I set it to the other google mail server, since htey just scan to themselves and they have the right gmail account

I've recently implemented the SMTP2GO fix which is great IMO. All that needs to be changed is the SMTP Mail server. When opening an account with SMTP2GO use the same GMX email address and password and it continues to work sweetly.
