Ricoh Mp301 and office 365 - Auth encryption breaks scan to email

    Hi All,

I have a Ricoh Mp301 upgraded to newest firmware. It supports TLS 1.2. I have set it up to scan to email via office 365.

    • If i set up SMTP Auth. Encryption to Auto it works.
    • If i change it to Active it doesn't work.

Anyone with more experience can explain why and is there a way to force it to encrypt the password ?

Also, the settings that I see on the web administration page versus the settings on the printer screen are different.
    For example:
    • On the web page I'm missing Use secure connection (ssl) for smtp (however, on the printer itself , i see this option).
    • On the web page i had set up the smtp port to 587, but on the printer itself it was different I believe it was set to 465 and had to update it directly.
    • Also on the web page missing is the option to auto specify sender for scanning to email. It is available on the printer itself.

Any idea how to update these remotely, versus going to different sites ?

    Thank you.

Here is what Microsoft support has to say.

Counterargument: why put a separate email feature into a customer environment? M365 is pretty easy to set up with scan to email and it ensures that any compliance measures are covered.
