    Asus laptop reinstall windows 10

Yesterday a lady brought in a Asus E200HA laptop and said she wanted to bring it back to default settings. After a brief conversation, what she really wanted was a clean laptop with no files/data. I figured this would be a simple job. I installed windows 10. But then the track pad wasn't working. It was obvious that I need to install all the drivers that were missing. I went to ASUS website and downloaded the drivers needed. However, they wouldn't install. I keep getting some error message. I'm not sure what was going on. Finally out of desperation, I downloaded a free program called: Driver Easy. It installed all the needed drivers and the track pad is working again. Very confusing.

It bugs me when I can't figure these problems out.

So how much did it cost her to have you reinstall a 5 year old, based on the earliest review I could find, approximately $200.00 original retail laptop?

Lol, didn't realized it until now.

Some of the reviewers mentioned that open more than 2 applications or 3 tabs in Edge and it really slowed down.

I charged her $85.00. She just picked it up and dropped off 2 more laptops that are older than the first one.

One of our best customers is like that. We're good friends and I help him from time to time. He picks up machines from yard sales and if he can't get them going, I give him a hand. No charge.

What bugs me even more was that a 3rd party unknown app rendered the solution.

I agree, Driver Easy is one of the online driver site that I tended to avoid in the past. Maybe they no longer require you to download their app. Nor do I trust site that offer drivers in Win RAR format.

This is one reason I got out of doing personal computer service and focused on business. The amount of absolute crap computers that are sold to consumers is criminal.

At this point, it's nearly been a decade since I've even seen a Home version of Windows.

Yep and there's a lot of crap printers that are sold to consumers. Especially the inkjet variety. I try to educate these folks but I've found most of the time they're just interested in buying something that's cheap.

I had an account at one time who was a bankruptcy attorney. I worked on his phone system, Gestetner/Lanier/Ricoh mfps and had installed a Novel network. He was also a licensed wholesaler for Lexmark inkjets printers. He could get a new printer for less than a set of replacement ink cartridges, so had a number of new ones waiting for when one needed ink. Donated the old ones to charities.

I've used IObit to update drivers for quite some time before we started selling the same hardware over and over so i just had to update 1 usb drive with all drivers to install

I've had a bet running with multiple peoples that they will pay more in 5 years for their inkjets than they would for one konica printer. I've won every single one of them bets and earned myself 7 beers and 7 new customers in print business that way

Just curious with the Asus. Couldn't you just do a windows reset? I thought it is built into any W10 computer, or was this an upgrade to W10?

I'm also surprised that Asus doesn't have an application available that will install the drivers. Then again, that may just be a business class machine thing like Dell Command Update or Lenovo Commercial Vantage that these garbage machines never get a chance to see. There probably also hasn't been an update for any driver or BIOS since that machine left the factory.
