HP Laserjet M2727nf network scan to folder success?

Im looking to purchase a mono laser MFP for my Windows 2003 SBS network. One product requirement of high importance is the ability to scan to a server file share for everyone to access. The next objective is a proper by-pass paper tray that can hold legal size paper (instead of a single sheet feed =P)

The budget is under $1000 so the HP M3027 is out of reach. The next model down that i can find is the M2727nf and it's a dramatic price drop.

I would like to stick with HP because reception has been using our HP fax/printer for years and she is very comfortable with it.

So far my short list is the M2727nf, Brother MFC 8890 DW, Xerox phaser 3300 MFP.

Thanks in advance guys for your comments, suggestions and feedback.

Your lower-priced MFP devices will generally work fine for SMB scanning. From what I've seen, though, they can sometimes be a bit cumbersome to scan, in that it's not quite as easy to just walk up and press a button to scan. We have a HP 4345 that is sometimes used an a scanner, and it's not too bad to use because of the large touch screen. Some units just aren't that intuitive.

I would keep in mind that the screen size for scanning and exactly what needs to be pressed to have it scan should be taken into consideration. A larger copier will not be a problem, but that's not within your budget.

By quicking looking at your choices, I would probably go with the Brother because of the built-in NIC and wireless card. That screen does look a bit small, so if you can you should find a similar model and see how that little screen looks in-person.
