Ricoh MPc2030 Will not connect to network

I have a 2030 that I'm trying to install on our network (just to test) and I cannot get it to pull an IP from the DHCP server. So I set up a static IP and I am still not able to ping the device.

Here is the weird part, If I connect my laptop to it via standard network cable and set to DHCP it will ping from my laptop and I can log into the WIM.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

What do you mean standard network cable? A patch cable or cross-over? I doubt this machine has auto-sensing, so make sure you use a patch type to connect to a network, and the cross-over for a direct connection.

If it won't connect to their network but it will to your laptop direct, then it is a problem with their network and therefore their IT department. Most likely a dead network port, or MAC filtering.

Yes it was a patch cable. Im trying to put this on my own network at the office which I know is in good working order.

The 2030 does has auto-sensing and thats how I connected to it to ping and log in to WIM via my laptop

Disable DHCP use a static IP then try to wim in. make sure the IP is close to your router IP.

I believe you meant to say you connected your laptop to the network (and not the machine) and it worked fine.

Did you try to connect the machine to your laptop using a crossover cable, assign IPs to both (192.168.1.1 to the machine and 192.168.1.2 to the laptop, for example) and see if you can access the machine from your laptop?

If all fails, you could have a bad network connection on your machine - do any lights come up on the network connector when you connect a cable to it?

You could try to do a SP5801-11 to clear all network settings and try to reconfigure it again - helped me with a similar problem on a MP201.

Re: Ricoh MPc2030 Will not connect to network

I am not really understanding the question here.

            1. If you tethered a laptop directly into the machine using a crossover cable / patch cable and you're able to ping the Ricoh copier from the laptop. Then there is nothing wrong with the machine hardware.

            2. if you plug the machine back into your network port in the wall and you're not able to connect to it. Then there is something wrong with the physical link on the drop. <<<< the best way to find out if that jack is live or not, connect the cable from the network drop to your laptop and see if you can ping your own router >>>>>>

Also, double check your network settings, specifically IP range and netmask. Don't worry about the DNS or gateway address for basic connectivity. If the direct connect is working and the ports (wall, switch/hub and router) and cable you are using are also working, then the step is to make sure your settings are correct. Give it an address outside of the DHCP range, if possible.

Go the server type in ipconfig in the cmd prompt and make sure the machines ip is part of the same range sounds like the subnet is different on the network or something.

Kind of sounds like something else on that network already has the address you gave to this machine.
Might try adding 1 to the last octet in the machine address in user tools and the address in the print driver port setting and see what happens. At least that worked for me once when I had a similar problem.

On teh MFP's touchscreen, in Interface tab, look for 802.1 button, and make sure it is disabled.

This will prevent a NIC from doing much of anything useful.

Not 802.1 is not a wireless option......It is an Ethernet protocol feature.

It could be that the NIC is not switched on. SP5985 1 to enable

Hello all. Sorry for the delay, I was out with the flu.

I found the solution. The network cable from the wall to the MFP was bad. Here is the weird part, If I plugged that same cable into the machine sitting next to it(Ricoh MPc400) it would work fine. When I used a crossover cable from my laptop to the 2030 it would work fine.

I put in a new cable and all is well. Thanks for the info and tips guys.
