    Canon Imageprograf 750 Canon IPF750

This one has been in the field for awhile but never had any sort of a problem other then replacing the inks every so often.
Customer called and the prints are blank. Internal test patters, nozzle check pages etc etc all blank.
Installed a new print head today and during it's initializing got the E161-403E error for high head temp
Cleared that error and went on to do a head cleaning procedure and now have a hardware error of 03800500-2F42

I have a IPF 710 manual but not one for the 750. The 2F42 error isn't listed as a sub code but no ink detection seem to be the common factor.

Is there something mechanically I could be missing for no ink through the printhead? The tubes are full and seem to drain and refill when going through the head replacement procedure. These codes are the first ones it's had for all the blank pages it's printed over the past couple of weeks. I'm thinking more logic board then hardware but any help appreciated.

If anyone has the correct service manual they'd like to attach to this, that would be great!!

go to service mode and force a few head cleans followed by a nozzle check.

if you see any color coming out - I would lean for purge unit.

if "nada" than it is electrical - in other words = mainboard

This is from the service manual

Hardware error. - 03800500-2F42 - Turn off printer, wait, then turn on again.

About single line (A or B) and all nozzles (1280-nozzles) of one color, the nondischarge is detected.

Check the head management sensor and surrounding
      parts.
Check the flexible cable unit and surrounding parts.
Check that the printhead is installed correctly.
      Replace the main controller PCB.
      Replace the printhead.
      Replace the carriage unit.

Clean the contacts on the carriage where the printhead makes its electrical contact. Fine sandpaper and alcohol. I have gotten rid of e161 after installing new printheads by doing this

Thanks for the input. It was in fact the Main PCB. Replaced it this afternoon and print came right back. If anyone is interested in a good used print head, let me know and I'll see what the service manager would want for it.

The FFC's have to always be considered suspect in these machines. The FFC checker tool works wonders when T-shooting this type of issue, but do yourself a favor and get two of them this way you don't have to remove the ribbon in order to check it.

You can fix this error by two methods. The first method is to reset the printer and try to install printhead again and the second one is advanced print head troubleshooting method written in Canon iPF750 Manual. Check it out.
