[Error Code] Canon IPF8400 Replace Right PF-05 Print Head, New Print Head Not Recognized

We have a IPF 8400 which is just giving us headaches, this machine is hardly used and recently had its left PF-05 printhead replaced no problems and continued to print as normal, then the right head kept cleaning/replenishing (it was old 2018) itself. We replaced right head as normal with a new PF-05 however the machine keeps stating replace right head or head not recognized. This is the third head tested with the same result.

I did refit the old original (2018) RH head back and the machine printed, its config, a few posters but kept replenishing/replace right pint head.

The new heads are sealed new, we have even tried different suppliers(not eBay or Alibaba) to our original for the PF-05 without remedy.

The machine firmware itself has been updated from 1.29 to 1.50, and within the service mode the head information displayed: Left Head 136 days 3810 dot. Right Head 4 days 0 dot.

We are at a lost to what could be causing this, we question if the machine software has become corrupt, or if these heads don’t like the later firmware?

Errors within the logs which we can’t find any reference to with in the service manual

    03800302-2836
    03800301-2835

Any help would be appreciated as this machine stands us silly money.

    Cheers

    Steve

as i can see ther is alot of air in the inktubes. they are not filled correct after PHD-change. if the printhead are changed with standard procedure, they will fill automaticly.
since you got that error, either wrong procedure, dirty contacts between phd and carriage, defect main-pcb and/or carriage-PCB.
buy a new plotter is my recommandation.

Hello Leo, thank you for the reply.

The ink tubes both sides were full (no air) when in operation and since the R/H head has been in and out a few times and I guess the machine is not going through its full/normal head change operationalproceedure when the head is replaced, the tubes have not inked up and the ink has backed off.

I am confused, TBH is that when we replaced the old head back in the machine ran (with errors due to head age) any new head fails, its not logical. especially when the software sees the new head fitted in engineer mode.

      Thank you again, Leo
