    [Misc] ira4545i 2 will not ping the SMTP server but will ping test computer.

    I have a new purchase off lease machine. Testing it shows I cant email.

    The Canon will ping my computer but it will not ping the SMTP server. server is IP address in settings too.
    My other Canons can ping the SMTP server no problem.
    Ping test from computer to Canon are great and clean.

    I'm not sure what could be hanging a Ping command up! WTH
    I have used Canon Imagerunner parts for sale. Most are floor model Color and / Advances Imagerunner with some 3025 3235 parts. Several intact machines being parted.

      You said you got this machine off lease. Did you do an initialize all data to get rid of any settings the previous owners may have put in there ? They may have changed or blocked ports.
      Give it a shot.

          Yes all has been cleared. Its most likely a duplicate IP somewhere.... somehow. Im going to test now.

              Disconnect network cable from canon and use on your laptop, can you ping the smtp then?
              Go to command prompt and type: telnet <SMTP Server Host Name or IP> <port>
              example: telnet smtp.gmail.com 465
              If it connects and cursor is flashing, the connection and port is good. if Port is blocked it will say Connect failed.

              If laptop doesn't recognize telnet command, you need to enable it....Google it.

              Reconnect network cable to Canon and set to DHCP and try it as well, in case gateway is set wrong.

                  Yes I can ping the SMTP from laptop.

                  I dont know what the root cause was but ran Initialize all data " Again " and now I can ping the SMTP from the Canon. Firewall was off too and I could not find a good reason why it wouldn't talk outside. Tried 465 and 587. 2 diff smtp and gmail. I also opened up the SSL3 ports in Level 2 but didnt help.

                  I'm not sure how this one got missed while the other two were flawless. I am new to this series.

                          I always Respect the stack so the Gateway is always there.

                              You may have an activated proxy. I'm not sure it will be deleted by initialization.
