    Canon DX C5740i error code 000280-0004

    Hi all,

    I've not worked on Canon for 15 years and recently went self employed. I got asked to look at a Canon DX C5740i with the error code 000280-0004 or E280-0004.
    The lamp comes on you get maybe 1 or 2 copies through then the code comes up. but the copies are patchy prints fine.

    Definitely an optics issue. there is some damage to the ribbon cable but with not having access to the Service manual or parts guides I'm stuck any advice for me and if it is the ribbon cable could you provide me a part number please.

      Title : E280-0004 Error Code
      Problem :
      E280-0004 Scanner unit (READER) communication error.
      The machine will copy form ADF and if the ADF is not open then closed, it will copy from platen glass.
      The error will only occur when the ADF is open then closed.
      PS101 (ADF Open/Close Sensor1) and PS102 (ADF Open/Close Sensor2) were checked in Situation mode and both worked fine.


      Solution :
      Replacing the Scanner Ribbon cable in the Reader unit fixed the issue.
      FLAT CABLE: FK4-3319-000 For imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 8700 / DX 6700 / DX C5700 / DX C7700
      FLAT CABLE: FK4-3318-000 For imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4700 & imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C3700

              Hi All,

              Just following up on this fault. Part Flat cable was replaced and the Code has gone and copying and scanning with no issues i can not see any damage to the cable.
