Canon ImagePress C750 Printing without a Fiery

    Hello Everyone,

I have a Canon ImagePress C750 that I have been using to print from my computer and store documents in the Fiery G100. It has been working great for a couple years, but recently the Fiery began to have network problems, and it continually displays 22 on the digital readout. I decided to try to bypass the Fiery and print directly to the printer. I have been told conflicting information about it. The dealer I purchased the machine from told me it is not possible to print to the C750 without a Fiery. A local Canon Technician told me that it is possible to print directly to the ImagePress with some modifications. He suggested I remove the circuit board card from the back of the machine where the fiery plugs in, and replace it with a terminator card. (Fortunately I have a spare C650 for parts and it had the terminator card I needed.) Also he helped me to go into service mode and change the IMG-CONT setting from 3 to 0, to tell the machine not to look for a Fiery. After doing that the machine boots up fine, and the network settings are available in the machine to put in a manual IP Address. I can ping the new IP Address I configured and get a response from the machine. I can also type the IP Address into my web browser to access all the settings and statistics of the machine. However, every time I try to print something from my computer to the printer with the new drivers for the C750 (instead of the G100 drivers), there is an error displayed on my computer, and the printer will not print. It never makes any different sound or has a green light flashing on it to indicate data is being sent. I have tried a PostScript, UFR II, and PCL drivers multiple times, all with the same results. I have restarted the machine and the computer several times with no success. I find it strange that the ping command works fine and the printer properties displays correctly in my browser, but nothing will print. Any help on this would be very much appreciated. (I am using Windows 10, and I only use the printer feature of the C750, I never use it as a copy machine).

On another note, can I print with similar results with or without the Fiery? I like the way I can access the files in the mailboxes on my Image Runner 8505 better than the way it works with the Fiery on the C750, and it seems that this same style of access is available on the C750 without the Fiery, so I would really like to be able to print without the Fiery.

Thank you so much for all your input on this forum, it really helps a lot.

    HI,

Are you printing pdf files or jpeg files?
As far as i remember, the Post script is optional on the C750;So it will not print pdf files.Try jpeg and see what happens.

Thank you very much for that idea. I have been printing only PDFs. I would try the JPGs, but I have already replaced the Fiery and I am using that now.

One thing I have done is print to the Fiery, and also have it store all the files in mailboxes. That way I can access all my files on the main C750 without waiting for the Fiery to warm up. I get the same quality prints whether I access the files through mailboxes or using the Fiery. I like the mailboxes better because I can categorize the documents into different mailboxes, and I can also sort them by name, so they are much easier to find than in the Fiery. Also, I would assume that if my Fiery failed, I could still print my old files.

Thanks again. Take care and be blessed.

Hello, your printer has been printing with the G100 server, when you press the button for the printer counter, there is the option to review the device configuration, see if pcl or ps appears, if not, it appears by default, you can print with the type of driver UFR . just disconnect the server and the network cable that was connected to the server you removed it and plugged it into the network port of the printer, and in the service mode change the img-cont to 0.
now you have to assign an ip address to your printer, then on your computer open the browser (google) and where you put the web address, delete and put the ip address of the printer will open a page of the printer you have until there it would be a good point that the printer and the computer have connectivity

          hi,
with my years of experience in production printing, printing with EFI server (fiery) makes a great difference than without fiery, it wait time and toner without the server and jobs also looses quality
i can assist in fixing your G100 server it only needs software reloading.
