Hello Everyone,
I have a Canon ImagePress C750 that I have been using to print from my computer and store documents in the Fiery G100. It has been working great for a couple years, but recently the Fiery began to have network problems, and it continually displays 22 on the digital readout. I decided to try to bypass the Fiery and print directly to the printer. I have been told conflicting information about it. The dealer I purchased the machine from told me it is not possible to print to the C750 without a Fiery. A local Canon Technician told me that it is possible to print directly to the ImagePress with some modifications. He suggested I remove the circuit board card from the back of the machine where the fiery plugs in, and replace it with a terminator card. (Fortunately I have a spare C650 for parts and it had the terminator card I needed.) Also he helped me to go into service mode and change the IMG-CONT setting from 3 to 0, to tell the machine not to look for a Fiery. After doing that the machine boots up fine, and the network settings are available in the machine to put in a manual IP Address. I can ping the new IP Address I configured and get a response from the machine. I can also type the IP Address into my web browser to access all the settings and statistics of the machine. However, every time I try to print something from my computer to the printer with the new drivers for the C750 (instead of the G100 drivers), there is an error displayed on my computer, and the printer will not print. It never makes any different sound or has a green light flashing on it to indicate data is being sent. I have tried a PostScript, UFR II, and PCL drivers multiple times, all with the same results. I have restarted the machine and the computer several times with no success. I find it strange that the ping command works fine and the printer properties displays correctly in my browser, but nothing will print. Any help on this would be very much appreciated. (I am using Windows 10, and I only use the printer feature of the C750, I never use it as a copy machine).
On another note, can I print with similar results with or without the Fiery? I like the way I can access the files in the mailboxes on my Image Runner 8505 better than the way it works with the Fiery on the C750, and it seems that this same style of access is available on the C750 without the Fiery, so I would really like to be able to print without the Fiery.
Thank you so much for all your input on this forum, it really helps a lot.
