    Canon iPF710 plotter, printhead

I'm very unfamiliar with Canon plotters, and I am regarding the iPF710 a total noob. According to the operator (but unconfirmed from owner/customer yet) the beast got a new print head about three years ago.

Now its showing in the display a message (in German, but WordsToThisExtend): "Perform Printhead cleaning. If message appears, replace Printhead. It shows after booting also confusing information about a maintenance unit having only 20%

I read the several posts here regarding issues with the iPF710, but they are rather old. Any help or new information, please?

If the head sensor doesn't detect discharge from the printhead, this is what occurs. Uncap the carriage so you can slide it to the middle and check if there are any ink tubes going to the carriage that have air in them. Clean or replace the cap absorbers also(poke a paperclip end through the bleed holes on the purge unit while the absorbers are out..they plug up). Pull the head out and clean any dry ink from the discharge nozzles area. Cheat the front cover and fire it up. Check if tubes fill when carriage docks, etc. Canon warranties head for a year after installation
