believe this printer operation is like iR2016/2020
u mean u changed Reader Motor ??-it Drives the carriage-

        u need to check voltages/& signals= 24v to motor
reader motor driver controls rotation/stop and rotational direction/speed of the reader motor

there are no 24v supply on the drive motor of the scanner even i make a print from the pc still it doesn't print only processing appears on the control panel. only the test print on the service mode can be printed out. the error report cannot be printed. just the test print only.

try this>> power off>disconnect the FAX pcb if installed/power up ???

does your printer See the Reader connected ??

u need to check the 24v supply from Printer to Reader pcb.
and the v3.3 that supplies > to The reader motor driver -it controls rotation/stop and rotational direction/speed of the reader motor

you mean it is possible that the power supply are not working properly?

                      i don't have a 2318 book/ but i think the 2016/2020 is similar model

pic below is of 2016/2020 Reader - your connector layout may be similar
most important are those voltage input & output connectors/ and the communication connector to printer

SEE THE LOW VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT,for your v3.3/v5, your layout may be different/ click on pics to view

                        Here is the
                        General Timing Chart / General
                        Circuit Diagram

                        iR2422/2420/2320/2318 Series

When I had the same problem with iR2018, the reader controller was wrong, caused by overwatering a plant above the copier. But you have swapped it....

Try to do the following service mode

                          CS POSITION TEST
CS OUTPUT TEST (UNDER SCANNER TEST)

U have a voltage supply issue/ or communication issue

first check for the correct supply / do u have a volt meter ?/ do u know how to check for supply ?

Simple checks -Voltage in/ Voltage out
                              if all supply is good,
                              next step is signal communications
