Ir 2870 send issue

Hi ,

My client had running Ir 2870 with send kit as scanning option.
When installed the whole network was running in Windows XP environment.
Now, he has upgraded to Windows 7 professional 32 bit OS .Now, in the send option,when we click File-->Windows SMB-->Browse button,i get the NO RESPONSE.
No changes have been made to the shared folder and also the permissions of sharing are the same .
The SMB option in the copier is turned ON.
The firewall is OFF on the client computer to which Im scanning .

I have tried all possible ways of solving this issue , but unable to solve the problem.

Kindly help me to solve this problem.

When i hit the browse button , it says no repsonse.
If it says browsing is possible,then I can browse the computer and select the shared folder and send the scanned document.
SO ,if im unable to scan ,i dont get any error code.

Check the Shared folder (Sharing and Security tabs) and make sure it is configured properly.
Make sure the User Limit is set to Maximum Allowed or at the least more than 1 user.

The required settings for sending files (push scanning) from a Canon device to a shared folder on a computer via SMB protocol.
Rule A: If your computer has more than 1 hard drive or more than 1 partition.
HOST NAME: \\ computer name or IP address \ hard disk shared name
FILE PATH: \ folder name or shared name
USER: enter a valid user name that has write privilege to the computer that
you are sending to.
PASSWORD: enter the valid user password.
Rule B: If your computer only has 1 hard drive or 1 partition.
HOST NAME: \\ computer name or IP address \ folder name or shared name
FILE PATH: enter sub-directory in shared folder or leave this section blank.

USER: enter a valid user name that has write privilege to the computer that
you are sending to.
PASSWORD: enter the valid user password.


If the entire hard disk is being shared, follow RULE A.
If the entire hard disk and a specific folder are being shared, follow RULE A or RULE B.

If the hard disk is not being shared and only the folder is being shared, follow RULE B.

Thanks for the reply Teckat.
Is there any difference if the Windows is changed from XP to Win7 ,for the send option to work properly?
I have tried entering the hostname and other credentials properly , but it will not send and give an error report.
First of all when I browse for the network , im getting NO response .
SMb is On in the copier.Are there any other settings in the copier which donot allow the copier to SEND the file via SMB which we have enable ?

1-verify that NTLMv2 is enabled on your Canon
2-configure the firewall so that it allows the traffic in from your device.

Hey try turn off firewall, antivirus if it has and see when windows is 7 you have to create a username and password if it has username and password than its ok coz i had a experience without password it wont work.

Think it best you follow Teckat's attached file on FTP method. With Win7, it SMB's security has tighten up so might not work when iR2870 browse into the PC.


Unless you are able to upgrade latest firmware for iR2870, even after upgrade no guaranteed will be able to browse to your Win7
