    [Error Code] E004-0000 on IR7086

Hi All, this one has me confused, I have overhauled the Fixing Assy today(which I have done 7 or 8 times in the past), the machine was working fine except for a gouge in the Hot Roller caused by a chipped Sep Claw, when I reinstalled the Unit I had the above Code, reset the Error each time but no joy, I checked the past POSTs & Canon Tech Bulletins etc but there is nothing on E004 for an IR7086, (plenty on 5055, 6570s & IRAs etc) the SM indicates a short circuit to the SSR after the Sub Lamp has been powered for 5 secs, the SSR on THIS model is located on the AC Driver pcb & the only solution is to replace (in order) - AC Driver PCB & DC Controller PCB, so I checked the Fixing Assy again (with a Meter) for something/anything that could possibly cause a Short - tricked the door interlock & the Lamps don't light nor is there any fuser drive, also removed the Fixing Feeder Assy cleaned & checked connectors (on machine rear also) for Pin damage connector breakage etc.
If this was reported by a Client as a Service Call .....then I would go by the SM and replace the parts (after attempting the above) - but this WAS a working machine that has suffered by something that would normally be done in a general PM, all the PM items are up to date and has ONLY done 7,000,000 , seriously though ....any input here would be gratefully appreciated.

does control panel light up ? / is green panel led light on ?

Machine is designed to cut power to the fuser when the doors are open and/or the transport and duplex drawers are pulled out.

can u get in service mode ?
    TROUBLESHOOTING:
Use the service mode input/output and confirm the doors are closed, transport handle is set and the drawers are pushed in.

Under SM>COPIER>IO>DCON>P005- Bit 8 - this bit changes state when (PS58) the upper right door is open and closed.

Under SM>COPIER>IO>DCON>P005- Bit 9 - this bit changes state when (PS48) the lower right door is open and closed.

Under SM>COPIER>IO>DCON>P005- Bit 10 - this bit changes state when (PS56) the manual feed door is open and closed.

Under SM>COPIER>IO>DCON>P005- Bit 11 - this bit changes state when (MSW7) the front door door is open and closed.

If no change of state is indicated replace faulty component. Cut wire ties if needed.

Under SM>COPIER>IO>DCON>P005- Bit 13 - this bit changes state when (duplex pcb) the duplex drawer is pushed in and out.

Under SM>COPIER>IO>DCON>P005- Bit 14 - this bit changes state when (PS28) the transport handle is released and locked in place.

If no change of state is indicated replace faulty component. Cut wire ties if needed. Confirm the drawer connectors are seating properly and free of foreign debris.
Bit 13 relates to the duplex DRAWER2
Bit 14 relates to the transport DRAWER1

how far did u trace the AC IN> OUT<

All Day Power >AC output from the All Day Power supply at connector J782. J782 from the All Day Power Supply supplies AC voltage to the DC Power Supply.

Hi and thanks for the input teckat, I can say pretty much yes to most of the above, all door switches etc ok, getting into SM ok, if I leave front door open & Fixing Drawer released then P/ON, the normal display will say 'warming up' for about 5 mins then give me a Code of E002-0001 (thermistors replaced) - haven't checked AC voltages etc yet, however the original code indicates a short to the SSR located on the AC Driver PCB.
Strange since only the Fixing Assy was o/hauled (& no shorts detected) also the machine was working prior - will check out your other suggestions tomorrow.

      Thanks again Cliff.

Lamps don't come on? Did you measure the lamps for continuity?

Anyway an open circuit in a Lamp would have been aPOP to track as it also would give an appropriate Code.

Hi teckat, it seems a pile of iron filings under the front wiring harness from a seized Press Roll Bearing was the cause of the short as the connectors were swimming in it - not obvious at first but lifting out & in of the Fixing Unit must have been enough to create the Error , I would have thought an issue like that would give a sensor/thermistor error anyway the machine is working well now, the machine comes out at the end of year so fingers crossed & thanks again.

            Cliff.

And what code will an open lamp give you.....NONE...there is no code for open heat lamp. Good luck...

Sorry about the delay in replying Canuck, I have been fishing & crabbing for a few days - got some big hoooas too.

The Code for an open Lamp is actually E003-0000 - as there are 2 Heater Lamps involved (Sub & Main) an open circuit in one of them would actually be a Temperature Time delay which would give the following (from the Manual).

E003 - The fixing unit temperature is abnormally low.

The reading of the main thermistor has exceeded 100 deg C, but is 70 deg C or less for 2 sec thereafter.

Check the mounting/soiling of the main thermistor.
                Replace the fixing heater.

I keep all the area clean esp since other company used to let low rollers work forever with blown bearings. What a mess.
