Trying to help out another tech, and it's been years since I had to deal with canon products. From what I can gather, everything was working (and had been working for years) until customer's 2008 server had some windows updates applied. Since then, all scans produce a 801 error code. I do not have access to the server to check permissions on the folder (I did see that "801" is a write permissions issue). But I can explore from the users workstation to the folders, and have tried making a new one touch with the same directory info (\\server\data 1st line entry, \office\scans\username 2nd line entry and her logon credentials...Same issue. If I try to edit one of the existing one touches with her credentials, I get a failed to create or update destination error message. MFP is using the correct network basic settings...gateway, DNS, domain etc...I left it with getting their 3rd party IT to roll back the updates and verify folder permissions for the old service account. Any other ideas? TIA Emujo

Canon's then can't speak to the outside world or gain access to the file server but they work perfectly as a printer and obviously as a copier but not scan to email, scan to file, communications test or eMaintenance portal.
I have spent weeks after a the school term begins chasing round because the printer hasn't spoken to the eMaintenance server for 2 weeks and it turns out that firewalls have gone up or DNS server changed or password changed and no one thought to change settings on the printer. -

FIREWALL or Internet Security>??
-Check and verify that there are no software firewalls or Internet
security applications running on the destination computer and if
so make sure that they properly configured to permit this traffic .**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment
