    C258 Issues

    Hello ,

I went to a new customer thst have a KM c258 to replace his drums .

1)-It had a message to replace Magenta Toner . I installed a bottle he had on site (Compatible, all before was Original) and the marker still says it is empty .
-Checked the TCR level and it was 0% .
-Check the Developing unit and it had no toner inside.
    -Bottle is rotating properly.
-The Screen shows automatically replenishing toner.
-Checked and cleaned the hooper , the hooper is working properly .
-Replaced the pins that read the chip for the bottle , it was not fine , but also the same

2)For the black it is polluting the print a lot from the rear side , the developer is having toner overflow. (Toner is Compatible). Check the photos for the issue.

    Any help would be appreciated

you can replace the whole hopper assy A7PUR71400 and use OEM toner only, why take a chance.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

OEM parts/toner are always the best choice .

Hooper is working fine. but there is not toner inside the developing unit , TCR is 0%

how can the hopper be fine if it wont feed toner to the DV unit(s)?

From pictures looks like magenta toner is going everywhere but not in developer unit. Plus replace whole K(black) developer unit together with new K original toner.

Take a look at those toner cartridge contacts. They're bent up badly.

The black will require a developing unit replacement. There is so much generic toner in the developing unit it's forcing out the developer.

And you'll want all genuine toners in there.

Once you do those things we can evaluate the image quality. =^..^=

            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.

remove the developing unit M and check the exit side of toner supply pipe of hopper assy.
clear stuck toner and it will replenish normally.

I have already replaced the Toner Cartridge contacts .

I have cleaned all the hopper assembly, tested the same. The hopper gears are all working normally.

On Monday , I will check what u guys have suggested and If there anything else I need to try just inform me.

                Thank you

You also want to make sure that the drum unit is turning for the DV units that are messing up. I was on a C458 call where they were saying that the colors were off and that print jobs were taking a long time to process. When I printed out my gradation sheets, the yellow page was completely blank. I pulled out the yellow drum unit and there was a huge pile of yellow toner/DV that came out with it. I tried rotating the drum unit by hand and the drive coupler was turning but the drum wasn't. This created a huge mess in the machine that I was fortunately able to clean up. Toner was all over the laser glass and hard to get to. So anyway, you might check that the drum units are actually turning where your DV units are piling up with toner. The drum failing to turn snowballed in to a huge toner mess, the absence of yellow on all prints and a long stabilization time that slowed down the print processing time.

                      Hi again ,

sry i havent updated my thread about what i have done to solve the issue.

For the magenta issue, i have found the TCR value for magenta was 0. removed the starter and installed them back again ( Distributed them properly) , cleaned the sensor . The Value increased back to 6%. but the bottle was still empty , so performed trouble reset and it was back to full .

For Black , The drum was the issue , swapped it and the issue swapped. The screws in the drum cap was loose and the plastic was not centered. adjusted it perfectly in the middle and the issue was solved.
