C3321i with quite quiet cracking noise from some relay when connected to LAN

We have two customers who have a C3321i in their private offfices. When you connect the C3321i to the LAN it comes to clatter sounds from some relay, I think, quite permanently.
It seems that there come signals from other network devices, which are interpreted as print commands, which let the C3321i wake up from the sleep mode but then the C3321i recognizes there is no print job and goes to sleep mode again.
    Has anyone seen this problem.

    Thank you.

Put some small unmanaged switch between MFP and network.

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

That could be multicast traffic. Have you tried disabling AirPrint, Bonjour, ect.?

It is also possible some old printer had that IP and a computer still has it's driver installed. Thus it keeps trying to print it's queue now that something is responding on the IP. Maybe, try changing the IP?

If I helped you out, please give me a thumbs up! It helps my reputation.

The "click" noise phenomenon IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR of the device.
When the equipment comes out of Sleep mode, to restore normal network activity (such as remote services, etc.), a relay on the main power board is activated, which emits a "click" sound.

How often does it switch from wake-up to sleep mode? How many seconds? Is it permanent?
That was the big problem with the previous c3320i. KM then built new baseboards, and the problem was solved. I hope this issue hasn't been carried over into the new series.
