df 701 compatability question konica minolta bizhub 454e

wondering if another document feeder will work on a konica minolta bizhub 454e the df 701 took a dive. and it came standard on that but you can
change in the setting from a single scan to dual scan doc feeder.. remove theboard that the connector from the feeder goes into or
are we stuck with just one feeder? thanks much

You can use another, either the double scan or the basic one. By basic I mean the one that doesn't have the opening door on the white platen.
It will work just fine.

ok what model doc feeder would work? I was looking for the model number just to see if I had one.. I was told a feeder off a 364 would work but the plug
is wrong and it wont work.

From a 284e, 364e, i use both and they are interchangeable.

The two ADF's used on the "4" series are the DF624, & DF701 (dual scan). I know the DF701 came standard on the Biz 454/554 & C454/C554 models. I've never seen a DF624 on one of these models. Next time I service one going to check service mode to see if same setting to select what feeder like the 224/284/364 color & B&W models as the ADF's were an option and not standard. I wouldn't think a DF624 would work but learn something new every day!

I had to downgade a DF once because the customer complained about different image quality between 1st and 2nd (duplex) side due to CCD vs CIS technology. Wasn't a problem.

Don't think you would need to remove the dual side scan board if its set to single side.

I leave the dual scan board in the machine, just swap the DF.

That is how I found out too, my customer broke the dual scan (dont know how) and only thing I had at the moment of the call was a 364e with the single scan DF, bolted it in, plug in and it work. It has been on that office for a year, on a 454e. Its a immigration office so they do almost 20 thousand scans per month.

Interesting because if I remember correctly when I left DF701 unplugged by accident it would throw ADF code. I thought this was from machine recognizing the DF701 interface board still being installed but no feeder.

I do know on the 22-36 ppm models you need to set the correct feeder in service mode or it will throw code. Had this happen many times.

Here a df 624 and a 701 both are interchangeable. One has two wires and the other just one.

I have both on 284e, 364e, and 454e just plug and play.
