    FS-1135 Scan issue

Hi Everyone, I have a FS-1135 set up on one computer with USB connection. Copy and print works just fine. When you try to scan, it will say cannot connect to machine. If you restart the computer it will connect and do one scan job and that's all. Try another scan and it will say cannot connect to machine. It will also do the same thing using scan soft paper port. I checked computer firewall and no issue there. I have other FS 1135s in the field that scan ok. Really confused on this one. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

Logically, i would think to uninstall the scanner utility and twain drivers the proper way and reinstall. Update the firmware for the machine too, if you can. Look if there is an uninstall program from the scanner utility progarm or otherwise from control panel.

Yea I've tried for hours to get scan via USB to work. Nuthin'. Then I think I checked the specs and verified it won't work.

ah, OK. Maybe it was the 1128. But "Scan to usb" can mean thumb drive. And TWAIN usually means it has to scan into a program not necessarily into a folder.

Pull scan = connect with TWAIN in host software via USB to initiate and pull a scan FROM the MFP.

Push scan = connect with ethernet--either with a crossover direct to PC or standard ethernet cable to network and then PC. Initiate scan at the MFP to go to the computer.

If you are doing a pull scan via USB connection with TWAIN driver and host software, go into your hardware settings and make sure the USB port is not set to an energy saver mode to time out and go into a sleep mode.

              Good Luck!

PS--also check for any security software that might be monitoring and/or blocking connections/ports.
