kyocera taskalfa 3550ci - black dots in the prints

Hello at all, I have a Kyocera Taskalfa model 3550ci, and I would like to solve the annoying problem of black dots in the prints.
Today I cleaned all the developer drums ( the ones with the black drum) and the fuser blade...but I didn't fix it
The dots are in one part of the sheet at a length of about 28mm. Carlo

Hey bud that picture is basically useless, way to much quality loss. I can barely make out the header and I already know what it's supposed to say. I've had trouble uploading pictures here before too and idk if there's a trick we're missing but I've gotten around it by making a Flickr account (it's free) and then posting a link to the album.

scan example pages in PDF format then upload PDF allows us to enlarge unlike jpg crap does.

what makes you clean the dev roller and not look at the DRUMS ?

        we need:

        a pdf of your example

        running plain paper or labels?

page counts on supplies and service parts

OEM genuine toner or 3rd party crap?

is the machine clean on the inside or not ( DO NOT USE CANNED AIR )

you say you are an engineer ... BUT have you been TRAINED on ANY printer/copier?

do you have a manual? if you did you can find the defect ruler and that will give you your fix.

this is copier 101 stuff.. clearly you have never been trained on copiers

hello, I uploaded the page in pdf, where you can see the defect .. I hope you can see it well.
The toner I don't know if it is an original product, I had bought the used copier from Germany and the toner was included and I have not replaced yet.
I have the service manual which I used another time when I had an electrical problem that I solved, but in the manual I was unable to identify the solution for this type of fault.
Hei Phil b. but does it bother you that I am an engineer? or maybe you think that in engineering we studies photocopiers.
I believe I have both the knowledge and the manual skill necessary to act on this machine but obviously I am not familiar with this fault and it is for this reason that I asked for help here in this type of forum in the hope of finding someone specialized in this sector. I wish I could fix it because I use it every day and it is an annoying problem.
I think it's a cleaning problem, but I have to understand where to clean before I disassemble the whole machine :-)

There are MANY types of engineers.. even ones who DESIGN these things, and frankly I think most of them are smoking dope when they design them. They don't have a customer standing over them.. nice cushy no time constraint on them to make it easy on others.

no it doesn't bother me that you are an engineer ... the trouble is TOO MANY engineers think they are copier tech. I have been in this industry for 31+ years and it is a CONSTANT learning process unlike that of some engineers. Too many IT people feel they can do my job, but fail, I am able to do most it work plus repair Computers/Copiers/Printers/Cars/Boat Motors/Lawn Mower you get my drift.

just because you have a piece of paper hanging on the wall doesn't make you a copier tech. IF I took all the certifications I have garnered over the years I could wall paper my whole house.

Phil B. I have not disassembled the Drum unit because I did not understand how it disassembles, while the development drum was very dirty and it make me thinked that it could be the problem

What do you call the development drum? Have you worked out to remove the drum unit from this machine

Hello Mga, and thanks for your tip. The black charge roller has some tiny defect of rubber aging.
I will try to change all 4 rolls directly, as they sell them in kits of 4 at an affordable price.

the dev 'drum' is a magnetic roller that attract toner then puts in on the drum... if the coverage was SOLID black that is the way it is supposed to look and IS covered in the service manual.

like mga mentioned your problem is the PCR or primary charge roller of the drum unit.. that puts a charge on the drum to clear it of any residual charge left over from the previous page ...** look at service manual in the IMAGE FORMATION section.. it is clearly outlined there **

not sure about this model in particular but you might just want to replace the WHOLE drum unit.

if you decide to dis-assemble the drum be very careful not to nick the DRUM for you will have more problems.

a trick I learned over 20 years ago is:

if the PCR is dirty but NOT damaged ( rips/tears ) you can clean it with Nu-Finish Car polish .

wash the PCR w/ soap and water dry completely

take a small amount of Nu-Finish and spread it over the surface of the PCR..

let it dry then buff off all of the white film w/ a soft terry cloth towel... ** it may take several applications until the mess is gone **

                            re-assemble and test.

get the liquid in the plastic bottle Once A Year Car Polish(R) | NuFinish

this is just one trick I have learned over the years... another is using Rain-Ex on the scan glass (thin strip on the left of the platen glass)
it can also be used on the platen glass ** this is great for removing sticky note glue and globs of pen ink.**

another one is Simple Green for covers -- organic and doesn't contain Ammonia that can turn covers yellow.

like I stated in other threads DO NOT USE CANNED AIR to blow toner away .. it can get into laser... electronic boards and cause MAJOR problems ie: shorting out the boards .. completely cover the polygon motor (put the latent image on the drum) Stretch-N-Dust cloths work best if you don't have a Copier tech vacuum.
