Kyocera Hole Punch PH 7A and PH 7C

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with installing hole punches on the DF 7120 that fits a lot of the copiers. I was looking to install one on a 3212i, and looking around I found an old 3010i for parts laying around that had a finisher with hole punch. Being wise from past experience, I double checked and I see the 3010i & 3510i series used the PH 7A, but all machines afterwards (3011i, 3511i, 3212i, 4012i,) used the PH 7C but on the same DF 7120 finisher. So, I'm wondering if these are interchangable in any way. If I were to attach that finisher that was set up for a 3010i to a newer model, what problems would it cause? I'm thinking the hardware is the same but there must a difference in that little board that installs to the finisher for hole punching. Just curious, it would save money to use what's just laying around if possible.

That was a four hole/two hole punch.

I didn't realize they came in 4 punch options, I thought you only the the 2/3 hole punch. There must be some difference, Kyocera definitely changed from the PH7A to the PH7C for the newer models. However, sometimes those differences can be worked around, or maybe there is no difference at all and they just want to charge more money for newer models (I've seen that in the past also). Someone somewhere on here has most likely experimented with changing them around in their shop to see what works, I know plenty of companies keep part machines for just such things.

I did some research on this before and I believe 4 hole punch is standard outside the US; while we use 3 hole in the US.

4 hole punch is for A4 paper i believe. It's taller and narrower than our Letter size.

Make sure you hit the machine with a non turbo firmware after.
