    constantly adding toner

I got a kyocera M2540 that won't stop adding toner after changing the drum and developer unit. I went into service mode U254 (i think that was it) and followed the setup instructions with the maintenance kit. It keeps adding toner. I changed back to the old drum and developer but it keeps adding toner. I also changed the toner twice and its Kyocera brand TK-1172 toner. Any ideas?

Adding toner after a maintenance kit installation is normal, it seems to last forever but is a necessary step in order to get proper mixture. One thing to be aware of is do not use a cheap off brand toner during this process because it will never mix properly.

I'll add to that by saying don't bother using off brand toner AT ALL in Kyocera's. You're just asking for a nightmare.

i agree. i remember back in the day. one of the techs that trained me. he said when it starts the add process, just look at the clock. walk away and come back in 15 minutes. and sure enough you come back and it was done. don't come back at 14 minutes or you will still have to wait.

Yepper.. I agree with all above comments. Kyocera machines HATE Generic toner! You think you're saving the customer money, but in the long run, it will cost them more. Generic toner has different melting points that will diminish the fuser life & the lubricating agents in it are bad on the drum cleaning blade & drum. Stay with Genuine toner always!!
The developer setup is a 15 min process, it is worth the wait. Clean up your area, put your tools all away, sweep the area & before you know it, it's ready to go.

The machine needs to fill the developing unit with new toner, which can take up to 15 minutes.
