    Kyocera 4004i-7004i Rant

    Hi All,
We are setting up some Kyocera 7004i.
Not a fan of Kyocera or any manufacturer making a 40 page per minute machine speed up to 70 pages per minute(going into a school replacing 7002i).

Setting up the first one was challenging, hole punch was defaulted to "japan". Took a bit to find MM234 set destination, so it would 3 hole punch (7 machines had to change code).

If I didn't update firmware before I activated data security. When it rebooted after the HDD format it coded out with a 3502, another reboot message is gone.

After all this, I get the machine to ready state. Verify it passes a copy, then update firmware to current level. Before I start any of my setup process.

Anyone else had any issues with these new machines???

Pretty much all the manufacturers do that with the speed. They have the same motors that all run at the same speed. They just vary the paper feed timing clutches to the speed that you purchased.
We've only installed a couple of 4 series, but didn't have any issues setting them up.
    Hope that helps !

Regarding the speed that's odd in England, the machine comes as a 5004 with the option to upgrade to a 6004 and 7004, never seen a 4004, although the training did mention the base model being a 4004.

Wait til you have to set it up at a customer location and then find you have to do U021 to reset the controller because it drops off the network or gives you strange scanning problems for no reason.
