I have been working on a ECOSYS M6635cidn that is having a tray lift issue. The history of this machine is a previous tech started this call and found the tray actuator broken (part number 302KV06341), same tech them replaced a guide pick holder and spring actuator, parts 302NR06210 and 302NR06620. At this point I get this call and fount the lift gear and the gear on the try to be broken. I then replace the following parts, 302NR08111 (guide mfp), 302NR46210 (cable assy s0397 engine -l, replaced because previous tech "misplaced it"), 302KT02150 (gear z33s-z13s / lift gear), 302KV09250 (gear z13, tray gear), 302HN09170 (gear z13s joint, tray gear). I have has the tray lift system apart a few times now and all other gears are ok. Tested motor which is working fine. When the machine boots up it throws an error about the tray isn't loaded. I am stuck on what could be a fix for this any help would be appreciated.

Re: ECOSYS M6635cidn
The tray lift situation on these machines is such a pain. What I've found as a root cause of almost all the broken parts is that "Actuator B" p/n:302KV06341 (which detects the paper level) gets bent by the user, causing the tray to over lift and crack the gears and/or the left side tray guide. And I believe the other end of that mechanism also trips the tray install sensor.
Take a look at parts 1,7, 8, 9, 10, 14 on page 6 of the parts manual (Paper Feed Section 1) and make sure they're all interacting correctly. #9 is the actuator that gets easily bent up and I can usually tell because there is a patch of brighter white plastic in the middle of the arm. I think the other sensor on part #1 is the tray install sensor and, if I remember correctly, that sensor board is connected with a ribbon cable that is pretty easy to damage as well.Attached Files -

Re: ECOSYS M6635cidn
Replaced the cassette PWB and it started working.
P.S make sure the motor is seated fully to avail a grinding noise, took the gear holder back out to find the noise, could have saved a few hours or work buy just pushing the motor up more once it was in its clips.Comment

Re: ECOSYS M6635cidn
I've seen this as well^ The motor must be turned in the proper orientation or it will have a loud grounding noise. The chip/connector must be facing down.Comment

"cass not loaded" ?
In case of this message, no cass recognized by the cass size switch.
Maybe you forgot to connect the size switch.
