    JAM 4201 TASKalfa 7353ci

    Hello everybody

Sometimes, I have a jam 4201 on a customer's TASKalfa 7353ci. The paper is stuck and folded like an accordion between the two fusing roller (the customer cant take off paper and I must came in order to disassemble fusing unit).
I have changed fusing 1 year ago, changed paper feed roller 1 month ago. I change the margin front and the problem appears again.
I return today and I see that the jam is when the back enter in the fusing unit... and on the back there is a big picture which stuck on the fusing roller. I increase margin in back and the problem dont appears again.

Do you already have this problem ? I have lots of this error codes on Kyocera...

    Thank you

I've had this on slower 52/53 series machines, and I would run drum/dv/LSU cleans, then calibrate the color on the machine. When you say "back" I assume you mean the trail edge of the page, and it's a high coverage print, so it's just sticking a lot.

I have had this problem to the point of insanity. I have found setting all the registrations, magnifications and margins helps very much. I will go in order: U034, U65, U66, U67, U70, U71, U72, U402, U403 and U404. Almost all of the time all of these are not accurate from the start and setting them properly, front and back, helps. HOWEVER, I have had situations when the print driver is incorrect and it will over ride the settings on the machine. The same thing can happen from certain applications. I have to wonder why there are settings on the machine if the driver or application can simply do whatever it wants whenever it wants. At that point you are either faced with tracking down each workstation and ensuring proper driver and that it is set up properly or turning it over to the network administrator for correction.
For what it is worth. I hope this helps.

Yes it's the trail edge of the page. I Had this too on 52/53 series and the most rapid sotution is put the paper in A4R, but here the first tray is letterhead, the second on A3 and the two large capacity on A4...

            • Print text as black
            • Set Print gray with black toner

KPDL emulation instead of PCL XL
New print showed CMY <25% and BK approx. 54%
I forwarded my result to the dealer and no more J4201 with new settings.

You also can try to change U485 color tables/ Color Table 2 (prn) to decrease the coverage.
            New driver settings for testing:
            • Imaging/ Color Reproduction set to Custom table instead of Printer settings.

Now you can test each table if it helps.

I attach very old U485 guideline for better understanding (I do not find the newest one at the moment)
Maybe this can be helpful for you.

It's one of those problems I've seen for the last 10 years and nothing has changed... See it daily almost jam in the fuser... Needs a redesign really either they need to make it so the whole fuser slides out on a tray towards the front of the machine it's just impossible for a user to do anything.

Every few months you read something and you think that's a good idea and we make it another 1% less likely to jam in the fuser from tweaking something. Really though it should have been fixed years ago with a firmware fix and a bulletin.

I like the idea trying different ways to get coverage down won't eco print do the same thing?

Yes, but you will loose density and customer will cry because of faint images.
By this way you can get same quality with less coverage/ toner consumption.

Yes I will trying different ways to get coverage down. The problem is that the customer is at +/- 1 hour to go, and it the 6 or 7nd time I go to take off paper...

Digging up a bit of an old thread here but, we've been seeing a lot more J4201's recently than we used to..

Rotating the paper to SEF seems to make a big difference in most cases.

I went to a 54 series yesterday that had shown the occasional J4201 via KFS and then had 7+ of them yesterday afternoon!..

By the time I got there it was fine, though the customer admitted that he had to 'change the paper' (it had run out..) and after that it was "fine" and that it was 70gsm... ?

We changed it to SEF and will see how it goes.. but the fresh paper from the same brand/batch may be a pointer..
