I got a 5500i and on bigger jobs it comes up with this 3101 error code. Few pages ok any more errors out. The timeout is on max, no server limit and the copier is set to 0 max e mail. Any ideas?

3101 means that the SMTP server responded with an error. It doesn't matter that you've made the file size unlimited on the machine, if it's too large for the mail server, it will reject it.
Are you scanning in B&W or color ? Have the exchange admin check the error in the log.
