    Ricoh Aficio MP C2550 Firmware

    Dear Members,

I'm a new member of the forum and I'm not a technician.

I work as a volunteer for a Brazilian non-profit association and we have a Ricoh MP C2550 that needs firmware update.

Would you mind to help me?

As I mentioned I'm not a technician and I don't work with the printer.

    I'm very gratefull.

    My email: gabrielhmf@gmail.com

    Thanks.
    Gabriel

Firmware updates aren't something that an end user should be doing. One error in the process and the machine can be rendered completely useless. Contact a local service provider and let them know the situation and they may be willing to help you out.

        Dear rthonpm,

        Thank you for answering.

I think you're right! "Firmware updates aren't something that an end user should be doing."

It happens that I'm not a simple end user. I think...

As I said, I'm not a printer tech, but I have some tech knowledge, and I think I could follow some manual and update the firmware by myself.

Why do I want to do it by myself? Here in Brazil, a technician ask about R$ 400,00 (about $ 110) just to come and see the machine. Probably they will ask for more $ 100 to fix it.

And as I mentioned we don't earn money with this machine. It's for the association purposes.

We have had some problems with this machine such as:

        - It doesn't recognize the toners levels. It always shows 81 - 100% until the end of the toner.
        - It's not printing envelopes. Always jam.
        - It's not printing labels properly, the toner doesn't stay on the paper.
        - Lastly when I try to print labels, appears a message on the printer:

        "Restart

        Functional problem detected.

Press [Restart] after the current process.
Repeat settings after the machine has restarted.

        Processing..."

        - Sometimes appear another message:

        "Functional problem within the Copier.
Turn the operation switch off then on.

If the error appears again, please call service
        SC540."

        - At the end, we would like to set language to Portuguese.

I think that updating it's firmware some of these problems could be solved.

        Thank you again!

        Sincerely,
        Gabriel

You don't need new firmware, you need a tech to do a complete service call, it will probably cost a more than you quoted, you can't run these machines without proper service.

Having some tech knowledge does not qualify you to fix a photocopier
you could cause more problems than you fix

Firmware will not fix the faults you are having

like cars, photocopiers require routine service
my best advise is to get a qualified tech to service it

Ok. I decided to call a tech.

It's really better to pay and have the machine fixed, than lost it.

                  Thank everybody for the answers.
