Writing network settings to the NFC Tag of the machine... (V1 SOP)

I've rarely had a problem writing the network data to the network tag, but we just had our company phones updated. I resisted updating the Smart device connector app on the old phone because if it ain't broke don't fix it. So with the new phone I had to download the new version of the app. I've read the manual contained in the app, and it explains the procedure I'm used to doing.

The manual states to go into the settings in the menu of the smart device connector and select "write data to NFC tag". On my old phone this wasn't a problem because when I went to settings there was an option to select "write data to NFC tag". With the new version of the app, when I go into settings, the only options are, Passcode settings, Navigation Display Item, Connection Settings, Backup/Restore, and Bluetooth Sensitivity Settings.

When I go into "Connect Machine" menu and select MFP/Printer (which is where I used to find the "Write data to NFC tag" option), the only options that are shown are "Connect with QR Code", and Use Bluetooth, (not available on the V1 SOP), and then below a line that states "Connect Machines on Same Network" there's an option to "Add Machine", and with that you can add by QR code, with Bluetooth, add by IP address/host name, or search & add Machine.

No where in my recently installed app can I find any option to "write data to NFC tag", when it was effortless with the old phone's app. Can someone suggest a setting that might enable this option on my Smart Device Connector App?

    Thanks in advance,

    Marc

The instruction to go to the settings in the menu of the smart device connector and select "write data to NFC tag" refers to on the SOP not the smart phone. This is done while first setting up the SOP and does not need to be redone unless the NFC tag is replaced or the MFP is traded in and then resold to a different customer.

Thanks for the reply, crisis averted. We still have the old phones, and I was able to use that phone to link the NFC tag to the QR code. I am doing the initial setup on these machines.

I've done quite a few of these with the old phone, and the option to write data to the NFC tag resides in the phone. You have to scan the QR code with the phone in order to link the QR code to the NFC (rfid) tag.

In the settings menu of the new phone with the smart device connector app, the menu displays: 1.) Passcode Settings, 2.) Navigation Display Item, 3.) Connection Settings, 4.) Backup/Restore, and 5.) Bluetooth Sensitivity Settings

In the settings menu of the old phone with the smart device connector app, the menu displays: 1.) Passcode Settings, 2.) Navigation Display Item, 3.) WRITE DATA TO NFC TAG, 4.) QR Code Print, 5.) Connection Settings, 6.) Backup/Restore, and 7.)Bluetooth Sensitivity Settings

Then on the Connect MFP/Printer tab on the old phone app I have 1.) Connect with NFC, 2.) Connect with QR code, 3.) Use Bluetooth

And on the new phone app I have 1.) Connect with QR Code, 2.) Use Bluetooth

On the bottom of each, it has an "add machine" option that has nothing to do with linking the NFC tag to the QR code.

So linking the QR code to the NFC tag needs to be done with the smart phone, at least with the procedure I've been using. I access the smart device connector app on the smart panel which brings up the QR code (for apple users) on the copier control panel, which I scan with my phone and then select "Write data to NFC tag" from my phone app, hover the phone over the tag I had just attached to the SOP, and the phone reports "succeeded to write data". Once this is completed I can print wirelessly with either IPhones or Androids.

And just now, with the old phone it worked again flawlessly, and it seems it's the same version number as the old phone's app. I compared all the settings from the old phone to the new and all options seem to match. So I am still confused as to why the "Write Data to NFC Tag" is missing from my new phones' app.
