    SOP design tool

    Anyone tried the Smart Op Panel design tool yet?

    If so, did you use it to create anything that was actually useful?

    From what I've read, it looks like it can be made to submit meters via email.

      I have not yet been able to find out where to obtain the design tool.

          It's in the "Utilities" section of the main TSRC page. (the column on the far left)

          I couldn't find it a first, either, I just looked there on a whim.

              I just went through a day long class with my DSM on the new SOP. The design tool is great if you need to deploy units with the same settings. Its a real easy tool and you can add a "splash" screen of a company logo or any other picture that you have available.
              As far as getting meter reading, Ricoh has a cloud base connector for the new machines that will allow you to get notifications and meter readings. The cost will be 30 cents per machine per month or less depending on other factors. This cloud base connector will also allow you to view the customers MFP control panel in real time. They are also looking into having the capability to access the machine to change sp data.
              What I outlined here is just a small overview of what is capable with these newer machines. There is online training for this SOP that you will need to pass to get into the hardware classes.

                  Howdy,

                  I tried running the design tool from Win 7 (64 bit) and it starts with no issue (no SOPs to connect to right now).

                  However, I tried it on a Server 2008 (also 64 bit), and it throws a weird error when I go to start it. Something about a "side by side" configuration being wrong.

                  I tried this on 3 different Server 2008 VMs, and they all did the same thing.

                  The documentation says it's supported on Win 7 and Win 8, no mention of servers.

                  Support said that it should work on Server 2008, but I have my doubts at this point.

                  I have a customer that we can only run it on a server, no workstations available. I need to use the tool to get the eCopy client to show on the home screen. This needs to be done remotely if at all possible, as it is impractical to get hands on the User Tools function.

                  Has anyone else seen this?

                      Never mind, it has nothing to do with workstation vs. server.

                      From the guide for the tool:

                      1. Operating Environment
                      1-1. Operating System
                      Smart Operation Panel Designer (SOP Designer) supports the following operating systems:- Windows 7 (32bit, 64bit), Windows 8.1 (32bit, 64bit)
                      1-2. Required Library
                      Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable -9.0.30729.6161 is required. If SOP Designer fails to startwith "side-by-side configuration is incorrect" error, please install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008Redistributable Package (x86) from the following URL.
                      https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=26368
                      Please be sure to install vcredist_x86.exe even if your PC runs 64-bit OS. Because the SOP Designeris a 32-bit application, it uses the 32-bit version of the Visual C++ module.

                      Duh. I don't know how I missed that.

                          One thing, you can't do anything with it until you connect to machine with the SOP v2 and download the configuration from it. You can then save it on your computer and then play with it without being connected.
