    MPC3003 Light Black prints

    Hello all,

I have a MPC3003 that has light black prints. First time working on this model, but I have experience with previous models. It is uniformly light across the entire page. I force toner, and it comes back. The older models the toner pump would go out, but I see they did away with the toner pumps.. machine has >30k black and 140k color and I see DV is rated for 600k. Anybody have these issues on this model? My next step will be to replace dv unit if it comes back to eliminate bad TD sensor. Also, does anyone know if Developer comes with the DV unit still, or do you have to order unit and Developer material separate? Thanks in advance.

Clean the optics to start then carry out a full calibration you will be surprised.

It unlikely to be dev. More likely, someone forgot to replace the rear plate on the PCDU or reset the drum counter. (Without a counter reset, the machine does not know to adjust the voltages for the new drum surface.)

How does a Full Dot test pattern on black look?
      What are the voltages?

The dev cannot be ordered seperately, they come as a complete unit, and they are expensive.

Sp 3201-001 set value to 4%. (mine was at 9% to start)after change make 1 copy or print internal test pattern this applies the value of the change you just made.

Execute SP 3050-003 three times (Toner add for black i believe it was.)

Check the value of SP 3200-001
if the value is 4 or higher your done if it is less then 4 repeat the above steps until it is 4 or higher.

This is bottom half of TSB #6 on the 2003/2503, the first part of the tsb is for light image only on lead or trail edge, this part i gave you resolves the whole page being light.
This was a quote from a member here about light output on 03's and for the life of me I cannot remember who it was but it might help you out.
I saved it in a folder in case I needed it.
Sorry to the OP of the solution.

Assuming you have tried the basics, cleaned the ID sensors, ran ACC & full process control? what was the process control result? Pass/Fail?

As the quality improves with a forced toner supply I would initiate the K TD sensor, it should then maintain or keep the toner supply at the current level.

            I'm with Ruben.

The PCDUs are grounded through a brass plate inside the rear cover. If this cover is not replaced (or a cover from another machine that does not have this plate is used) the copy and print density for that colour will be very poor. The machine will not be able to recover from that condition by itself.

Below is an image of what myself (and Ruben) are talking about.

Thanks everyone for the input. Yes, I have done all the basics and did re-initialize the Developer after I forced toner. This is a classic "wait and see" scenario. If it comes back, I will update with what steps take to fix it. Thanks again for everyone's input!
