Ricoh scan to Folder Issue on Wi-Fi of Smart Operation Panel

    Hi everyone,

I'm encountering a frustrating issue with my Ricoh MP 305+ and MP 5055 copiers. For several weeks, I've been unable to scan directly to a local folder on the network when connected via Wi-Fi.

Here's what I've tried so far (all unsuccessful on Wi-Fi):
    • Created and shared a folder with full access control.
    • Disabled Windows firewall.
    • Updated firmware to the latest version.
    • Configured Folder Authentication with full user account details.

    Interestingly:
    • Scanning to the same folder works perfectly when the copiers are connected via ethernet cable.
    • The "Scan to Folder Helper" app (downloaded from the Application Site) successfully browses and connects to the shared folder on the LAN network. It even registers the path in the address book. However, scanning to that registered path still fails.

    Additional details:
    • All other functions like printing and accessing Web Image Monitor work on Wi-Fi.
    • I've tried various scanning methods (Scanner Classic, Quick Scan, Scanner app) with the same negative result.

    Question:

Why can the "Scan to Folder Helper" app connect to the shared folder on Wi-Fi but fail to send scanned files? This issue applies to all scanning apps on the copiers.

Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

If I'm not mistaken, the wifi connection only works for printing....

do NOT use the wi-fi that you see on the ricoh. it is junk, if you ever get it to work it will be a miracle. i have never had luck with it working. they call it wi-fi, but it doesn't work in the sense of what we think of as wi-fi.

Connecting the machines to the network via an ethernet cable is always the best option, but if it's difficult in your location, then buy a 3rd party wi-fi range extender and connect them to that.
I use them all the time, and they work very well.

Thank you menosmola sandmanmac dalewb74 for helping me. I found some new interesting that, if using app "Copy and Scan" or "ID Card Scan & Copy" downloaded from Application Site on Ricoh can scan file to local folder successfully with Smart Operation Panel via Wifi.

But the 2 apps included more feature that not nesscesary. With Copy & Scan, it will printed out a copied after scanned file, and about the ID Card Scan will combine 2 sided into 1 single page.

So I think RiCOH must have some app just only scanning function only and will working, but they not share . Other Scan app like "Quick Scan", "Scan Classic" and also tried, not worked. Any app linked directly with address book will not worked.

I even tried with TWAIN with SOP too. But yeah, stucking.

the scan app isn't something you should have to download for the 305. it should already be installed, unless someone deleted it.

Those 2 SOP apps that you mention are just that, SOP android apps. Scanning whether it be Quick Scan or Classic Scan are main machine functions.

If you really want to be able to scan to folder using the SOP WiFi, which is low power and low range, you might be able to get the Ricoh software engineers to develop it for you at a cost to you of between $1,000 and $10,000 and could take 3 to 6 months. A WiFi range extender cost less than $50 and can often be purchased locally or 3 to 6 days from places like Amazon. Your money your time. You make the choice.

Do you have the optional WIFI card installed or are you using the panel / SOP wifi ?

I don't have optional WIFI card installed. The Smart Operation Panel already have Wireless + Bluetooth inside.
In the User Tool / Counter -> Screen Features -> I switched to Wireless network instead for Machine Network.

Every function worked excepted scanning folder and scanning via email.

I think slimslob he right ! Only Ricoh's deverloper programing new app then we can using scanning via SOP function.

menosmola , Do you have the exact name of that device?
It would be interesting to try it, since there are offices that, due to aesthetics, are very difficult to connect by cables.

Just search WiFi extender on Amazon.

That wifi is only really designed for mobile devices to connect. Even printing via this WIFi you only have very limited options.

I recommend the TP-Link RE200 this works flawlessly as a wifi extender / adapter.

It is simply a wifi repeater with an RJ45 cable network connection. There are thousands of different models, they are cheap, and they all work more or less well.
