    mpc2003 - quality pictures

    Last new firmware, low counters, black is parallel toner.
    Would a post script maintain a better printout?
    This customer had a mpc2500 with a outstanding quality and is used to that QA...
    What would you do?

      Shoot whoever sold it to them, no way it will produce quality.

        Shouldn't the MP C2003 be as good as the MP C2500?

          Only if properly maintained and not over sold. By over sold I mean not put in a place where the work load is proper for a 20 PPM model and not where there should be a 35 PPM model but the sales person went with the c2003 because he/she could not justify the higher cost of a C3503.

            The poster said the customer is comparing the C2500 to the C2003 for print quality, I believe the two machines should have equal print quality.

              Not so. The C2500 was a primary model line. The C2003 was an after thought released to give dealers a lower priced, and less quality model to market. That its launch date was 6 months later.

                Maybe Mark Bbb could upload some samples so we can see what he's up against.

                  Print quality for Ricoh has never been the same since the switch to XXX2 Series and Above. Implemented new toner that melts at lower temperatures and also introduced the belt style fuser system. An MP C2500/C4500/C2051/C4501 with even 100K impressions on drum still makes better prints than a New PCDU on MP C2003 or even MP C3003.

                  Just the way it is now.................

                    By "Parallel Toner" do you mean "Compatible"? If so, your image quality will suffer a bit. OEM toners will give you better looking prints.

                        1st -> check the density, usually these units do very "light" solids over time.

                        You can either start swapping PM parts or try some "force toner" cycles, re-initialize the devs + run ACC
                        Using color copy paper for "important" stuff does also help A LOT..

                        2nd - > use the dedicated PCL6 driver

                        -> print priority -> quality
                        -> image setting -> custom
                        -> image quality -> color profiles -> details ->

                        set graphic & foto to "color laser printer simulation"

                        (wording might be different, I have a different driver language installed)

                          I did the test, but we have decided that the pcl6 is slightly better than the xps

                            I agree. The MP C4503 has much better print quality than the c2003 c2503. 20 page models do not give solid colors in this series.
