Red lines during color copy only MPC4501

    Hey all,
Ricoh MPC4501 produces light red lines during color copy. Color print is fine. B/W copy is fine.
Ex. I print a color test pattern, it prints fine. I take that same page and color copy, it prints light red lines horizontally across the page. Of course, a B/W copy of same page is fine.
It seems like a scanning issue to me but not sure what what to look for or adjust.
    Thanks

    clean the optic mirror
    clean laser glass

some bit particle of powder can create strange color refraction.

if no ok, clean the magenta drum charge roller with a rag with 2 drops of hand soap and water, with very gently movement, for not scratch the extreme delicate surface

Clean the small strip of glass just to the left of the big main glass that you lay documents on to copy.

That's called the Slit Glass. Common cause is someone that has marked an original with a Pilot or other make gel pen and not allowed sufficient time to full dry. Very common problem. Alcohol prep pads work great for cleaning.

I should have stated that in the original post. I have thoroughly cleaned the slit glass (ADRF) and the main glass (single sheet). Red streaks occur on both glass locations.

That sounds like a speck of magenta toner on a mirror.

But, you have cleaned well also the internal optic mirror, on carriage?

99% of the time it's on the slit glass, but there is that 1% of the time that it's on the mirror.

Correct. I removed the glass. Moved the optic carriage over and cleaned both mirrors. No change.
Here is the odd thing. When I was cleaning the mirror I see the adhesive used to "glue" the the first mirror to the second mirror. I figured that was the problem but I opened up my spare parts machine at my office and it is the same way.

he says he does the problem, in both positions of the glass (I assume it means, slide and exposure plane), however, I do not know if it is the translator who does not perform well, but I have as the perception, that he has only cleaned the glasses from outside... LOL.... it would be the maximum of the maximum... LOL...LOL

try to make a significant magnification and reduction, see if the lines move

Your picture is taken from the backside of the 2nd carriage. The mirrors are not glued together, they are held into the carriage with retainer spring clips, one at each end of each mirror. If you cleaned the side of the mirror toward the camera, you cleaned nothing. Mirrors in copiers are always First Surface mirrors. Be very careful when cleaning first surface mirrors as you are actually cleaning the reflective coating which is easily scratched. There are also 3 mirrors, 2 on the 2nd carriage and one on the 1st carriage.

Give a shot of air to the CCD also.

Clean the mirror located in the carriage and the exposure lamp too.

Solved! Well, believe it or not. It was the magenta drum. I can't understand why it only does it when doing copy and not during print. Maybe the way the image is processed??? Thanks for the help.
