Re: Ricoh MPC2004ex not printing correct font from usb drive
Have they checked to make sure that the entire file is formatted for Ariel. I you change the font on a document after it has been created, you have to select the portion of the document that the new font applies to.Comment

I then printed the same file from my computer and it printed times new Roman as it should.
The other strange part is they printed from flash drive on their HP printer and it also printed times new Roman as it should.Comment

Sure enough, I had them send me the file and I saved it to flash drive and it printed Ariel instead of times new Roman on my 2004ex.

I understand that it is also for the SD/USB slot of the operations panel."ALL WILL BE WELL" The battle cry that most inspires me to follow, from the DC's Comic character that I admire the most. Re: Ricoh MPC2004ex not printing correct font from usb drive
This is normal. Basically printing from USB is very limited you can only use the fonts installed on the copier.
Printing from a PC will use the driver setting & fonts etc.
You could try updating ALL the firmware you may find this will resolve the issue.

Re: Ricoh MPC2004ex not printing correct font from usb drive
I will update firmware, but in the meantime I created a test PDF document in Times New Roman and saved it to flash drive and it printed just fine on my 2004ex.
I also forwarded it to the customer so she can try to save and print it as well, so maybe we can narrow it down to her original document.Comment

Although it is most likely that this file was generated with an old PDF editor and does not have the current encodings of the Adobe PDF standard."ALL WILL BE WELL" The battle cry that most inspires me to follow, from the DC's Comic character that I admire the most. If you confirm that it is the client's PDF file that generates that distinction, update the PDF/PS3 firmware just in case.

Re: Ricoh MPC2004ex not printing correct font from usb drive
Is the problem with the test file still valid, which if it works in you MPC2004?
That's rare.
Compare the Firmware listing between your model and the client. To the bad ones, do a deletion only to the Printer, in case it was a communication failure between the Operations Panel and the controller. Re: Ricoh MPC2004ex not printing correct font from usb drive
If other files works fine and the FW isn't ancient I wouldn't bother to fix this - USB printing has always been faulty every now and then and will never deliver the best performance.
I think it was a good job to test against different/own created files. There's probably another file out there that might work with ricoh and struggle with HP.Comment
