    Ricoh MP C5503 residual images

I have a C5503 that started printing a residual image (with all colors) of previously printed pages near the bottom of every page. The defect appears approx. 2 inches from the bottom of the page, extending to about 3 inches up from the bottom and does not repeat. This started suddenly; nothing has been changed about the machine, no toner replacements, part replacements, etc... Paper settings are correct.

I found an old bulletin about ghosting on this series, adjusting the settings as outlined made no difference.

If I run some blank pages through the residual image will go away, but then return as soon as something is actually printed.

    Any ideas?

Can we have a scanned example please?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Sounds like it's time for a fuser rebuild.

        Certainly!

Attached a scanned windows printer test page. The residual image appearing on the bottom of the page is from a previous print job. Those pages where landscape.. The red blob is a logo that appears at the top of every one of those pages. It appears to repeat across the defect.

Most likely fuser, could be ITB. You don't sound like a tech. What you are seeing is a thing even a newbie could figure out just by looking at the fuser. If you are a user, consider calling someone to service it.

Looks to me like the image does repeat. The paper is Long Edge Feed and I see the same red image 3 times across the page. Looks like a problem with the ITB cleaning unit,

I suspected fuser, didn't have time to get a good look at it yet. We just got these machines and I am not terribly familiar with them yet.

Anyways, got time to tear into it. And figured it out. Once I opened up the fuser I could see it plain as day. The receptionist printed some envelopes on it, apparently one of them had the glue flap folded the wrong way. Glue from the envelope transferred to the fuser rollers.

Ok, sorry to slam you. Seems like there are getting to be more and more end users looking for free help lately around here.

I would say that the envelopes were not laser compatible. If the flap had been folded the other way the heat of the fusing unit would have sealed the envelope closed.

And more and more techs that start asking questions before doing their due diligence.

                      That's not slamming.
It takes 10 seconds to remove the fuser to at least look at it, before spending 10 minutes to sit down and post a thread about a ROUTINE issue - regardless of experience with ANY Make/ Model

                        我在這個系列中找到了一個關於重影的舊公告,按照概述調整設置沒有任何區別。

                        如果我通過殘留圖像運行一些空白頁,則會消失,但一旦實際打印出某些內容就會返回。

Need to rebuild the fuser and ensure that you use the genuine toner for complete fuser life.
