Booklet printing from a MAC with cover sheet

    Hi All

Has anyone had any success printing a booklet from a MAC where the cover sheet needs to be printed from a different tray?
I'm testing on an MP C4504ex which has a Postscript card installed, but paper is all fed from the same tray.

I recently came back to Ricoh after being a Canon tech for a few years, same issue with Canon too, and the only fix we found was to install a fiery.
Just wondered if this was the same case for Ricoh, and maybe all other brands too.

    Cheers

What software are you using? All desktop publishing software and most modern word processing software should allow you to format what paper source should be for every page of the document.

We've tried printing with Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Safari. The option is there for cover sheet, and to select printing from a different tray, but it decides to ignore that and prints the whole document from the same tray

You can also send the document to the document server. When you select a job to print from the document server it will take you to the copy screen and you should be able to set things like cover sheets and separator pages from there.

If you select cover sheet from the software and have not specified a cover sheet tray on the Ricoh, it won't know where to pull the cover sheet.

I have tried that. Set the cover sheet tray as bypass or another A3 tray which has a thicker paper in, it just ignores it.

I believe one of the other tech's here has tried that, and I know this customer just wants to print and not have to perform extra steps at the mfd.

are you using the ppd for that model from the Ricoh site or are you using the apple generic ppd? The apple ppd is basic with a lot of options missing.

Or the Generic PCL. Neither "Generic" knows anything about the options on the printer.

Yes I'm using the PPD package that I downloaded from the Ricoh website.

Open the ppd and select..Printer Features..Paper..Banner Page On..The setting on the machine needs to be set for the tray just like a PC driver. I.E.set in the Printer setting for the paper tray under System for driver command.
There is a setting at the machine where you need to tell it what tray will be used for the cover stock.
