Have a Ricoh MPC4504 that will print from computers fine, but when trying to scan either thru the network or directly to a single PC keep getting no network connection error. Have turned off all firewalls, tried isolating from the server and still same error. Can ping it on the network fine. Have another Ricoh MP C5503 on the same network setup the same way and works fine for scanning. Scan folders were imported and installed from the MPC5503 onto the MPC4504 and configurated the same but the C4504 won't scan to folder just always comes back to no network connection or can't find on the network. Can't browse the network. Tried formatting the HDD and reinstalling the settings again and same problem. Tried setting up with a single laptop direct to the C4504 and same problem. Even tried changing the network path with the actual ip address instead of just using the computer name and still no success. Need suggestions on what else can be checked or set.

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network
Where do you find what version the machine is running I didn't see anything in service mode unless I missed it? Its not listed on the configuration report.Don't see it on the SMC report either. Where can I find the SMB version levels of the machine?Comment

Print service mode SP5990-005 for current versions. Set SP5886-111 to 1 to enable automatic firmware updates. Then give it a day or two, it will update automatically, usually overnight.Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network
Print SP 5990-006 and check if any Scanner SP settings are not at default that could affect the scanner appearing on the network. Also check if there are any applications installed that required scanning be dome through their associated software package.Comment

I often have to do it the 'old fashioned way'.
It does sound like a f/w issueComment

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network
One questions, is this C5404 part of a domain or a peer to peer network? If a domain, scan to IP address will be blocked as it is what hackers use. Scan to name will not work if the domain name setting on the C4504 is not exactly correct neither will browsing the network from the C4504. Voice of experience.Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network
This setting should be visible in user tools and (probably) webinterface like any other admin settings - no need to go into SP mode. If the FW is too old it's possible that the setting is missing/not available. I'm not shure where exactly you can find - probable somewhere within user tools - system settings - network (or file transfer).Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network
Here's few things you might consider to look into or isolate the problem:
1) lets see if it's the computer issue or the network.what you can do is try to connect directly from the copier to a computer using a network cable.
set fixed ip to for example the copier is 192.168.1.2 and computer is 192.168.1.3. test print( it think print should be fine),
create a scan to folder, create a local user. maybe named testscanA password testscanA....share the username and password with the folder you created for scan,
add the shared folder to the copier with the username and password you created test scan.
2) does your copier have smb version 3? try print the network configuration from the copier. look at the [SMB] and see if client V3 is it stated there.
3) if dont have smb 3, on your comp go to command prompt type optionalfeatures. then activate the smb client and server and disable the auto removal.
reboot your computer. then try setup a scan.
4) is your scan folder shared with the username and password you need to create on the copier?
5) does your network goes through a repeater, several switches?? bec sometimes it doesnt work that way.
6) are you using wifi connection on your laptop to connect to the ricoh (lan), on some occasions, using wifi the scanning will not work. try use lan on the
computer
7) try setup scan to ftp if it works.
8) what antivirus are you using. try turn off your antivirus.
9) Scan to Folder Configuration Tool Downloads | Ricoh Global
10) is your computer standalone or domain controlled with active directory...is there computer policy in there that disabled some comp features.
11) firmware issueComment

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network
Some good suggestions there from the other techs / engineers
A few things that I may suggest
1) some of the other techs recommended connecting the copier directly to a laptop and testing to see if it scans to folder. I'm going to take it 1 further say try scan to folder using a Windows 7 laptop. Yes I know its old and difficult to find but if you have 1 give it a try.
Generally Windows 7 and XP is easier to configure scan to folder and will give you an idea of whether the fault is on the copier end or computer end.
2) Does scan to email work?
3) Go to Windows features and turn on SMB 1 then test your scans to see if it works.
4) Sounds like you may have a username and password error. Create a new username and password with administrator rights and try accessing the network again.
Have you read the Ricoh white pages tutorial on scan to folder? Could be helpful.
When I had to learn scan to folder, scan to email and scan via twain entirely on my own (and I do MEAN entirely on my own) those Ricoh white pages came in very handy.
Check out point number 4 here. Really looks like you might a network / system authentication problem

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network
1 more thing before I forget a few months ago I had a client who bougth a machine and I just couldn't get it to scan. Neither scan to folder nor scan to email worked. It could print perfectly. I battled with that for hours. Eventually figured out that the router was blocking out the mac address.
So... Check if your router is blocking out that mac address or ip address

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network
Ok I've attahed the System Registry that shows the errors after the scan fails, but not sure how to identify what the error code numbers mean. Can you review and elaborate on what it is and the course of action that should be taken to correct the scanning issue?Comment
