    Firmware Ricoh IM c2000

    Hi all,

i am a konica tech on the day, but i need to service this ricoh im c2000 bc we want to win this customer.
So today machine threw sc899 error. With a bit of fiddling and searching, i found we have to unplug machine, unplug network cabel, replug machine and boot, then plug in network cable.
this worked great for hour or two until machine threw error again. From what i read on here, there is a firmware update that solves this issue. Am i right about this? Realy dont want to lose this customer...
Please send me further help or the firmware as i do not have access to it

I'll send you the FW but usually SC899 is trigggered by faulty printjob data - likely printed with generic drivers and/or wsd port.
There is no 100% FW cure but an up to date FW might help reducing the chance that SC899 can be triggered.

You can update the FW via the svs mode.

Temp change the ip address so nothing can print to it first.
update the FW then reset the ip back.

BUT SC899 is nearly always as pc not using correct driver, correct port or not using adobe reader to view & print.

      Good luck.

      Dave

Thanks gift for the firmware and you both for the information. Why does the customer need to use adobe to print on this printer? That seems like a stupid thing to do

It's really recommended to use Adobe Reader for printing PDF files - otherwise you can end up with image errors, performance issues and occasional SC899 codes.
Of course other PDF tools/readers are ok for viewing and will work for printing in "most cases", too - it depends on the complexity of the PDF files.

Wait, this only occurs on pdf files? Customer has been printing with word for like a year atleast if he tells the truth.

Not only but this is one of the usual triggers like using generic drivers + WSD. I've also seen this happen because another network device had the same IP as the MFP -I was able to ping the MFP IP while the LAN cable was disconnected LOL.

it's a bad print job in the print queue. turn off the copier, unplug the network cable, reboot the copier, clear all print queue, then plug the network cable back in. and as mentioned check the print driver, update it as needed. i had the same issue earlier this week.

Also switch off WSD in WIM, forcing the customer to use proper IP ports and drivers.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                  Hit it.

Even from Adobe there are some PDF files that contain scrolling text or GIF emoji that the controller on a Ricoh cannot decipher. The solution is to "flatten" the file by printing from Print Preview in Adobe.

And the person who sent the offending print job sends it again. Better yet leave the print queue alone. With the network cable unplugged reboot the C2000, enter the Print Function, display the print job log and then plug in the network cable. You can then see who sent the job. You and the customer supervisor can then visit the offender.

I agree 100% with those that are suggesting an incorrect port.
If the driver is detected and installed automatically by Windows, it will choose either a WSD or IPP port - Either of which will cause frequent errors.
I ALWAYS disable both of those services within the Web monitor prior to delivery, and then install the proper and full PCL 6 driver - Not universal or you'll continue to have issues

Turn on auto firmware updates to help with future sc899 codes. SP5886-111 set from 0 to 1 then reboot.
