    MPC401 sc400 issues...

    Hi out there,
I know there has been some info about this before, but here goes...

I have an MPC 401 that has thrown an SC400 (ID sensor error). I cleaned the sensors thoroughly and re installed them and all was ok for a day and then the code returned.

I know that on the MPC307 - 45/5503 and 04 ranges there is a work around in factory mode to widen the perameters of the VSG check by (in factory mode) altering 3320-13 to 5v and 3320-14 to 1 v
this stops the code recurring and does not seem to have a detremental effect on copy quality until you can replace the sensors.

However, the 401 does not seem to have this perameter and I dont have one in the shop to look thru the menu, annoyingly the machine is 1.5 hours drive away, and I need to have the info to hand. Long term the thing is to change the sensor array, but I cannot lay my hands on one quickly - I would just like to get the customer working.

    Any info would be welcome...
    Kind Regards

    Steve

I understand you, 1.5 hours by car is not the best, I see in the manual that there is a "shutter" so it may have movement problems in covering/uncovering the sensors, it may be possible to eliminate it (?), also bring a group full itb unit for security

I had this same problem. Finally got it to go away for good by cleaning the sensors with Brillianize anti-static window cleaner.

On the 401 that setting is in special service mode, inexplicably.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

Ricoh has a habit of doing that with codes that are useful. Often putting them in Factory mode.
