[Misc] RICOH MP 4501C: no greend or orange light Ethernet connexion

    Hello,

I have a RICOH MP 4501C that I bought second handed.
The machine is working well but there is no internet connexion.

The internetconnexion is only possible via ethernetcable but the lights don't turn on.

The cable works because when I put it in the computer, this one has connexion.
When I connect via the printingcable on pc the printer works.
IDK if it should work ethernet on pc (do I have to try?).

The ethernetcable is connected to an extender.

People told me it is the settings or firmware of the printer.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks!

Sounds to me like the onboard Network card might be disabled.
Enter SP Mode and navigate to 5-5985-001 (On board NIC).
If this is set to 0 then set it to 1.

Are you able to try to connect the printer directly to the router or a switch?
I recall having had issues connecting a printer via a customer's extension equipment at one point, but connecting it into the router worked fine.

Check in Users Tools to see if IEEE 8011 is enabled.

I realize it might be difficult to reach the router but it would be an important step in being able to exclude the equipment from the problem solving equation.
Can you perhaps move the machine temporarily?
Since IEEE 8011 is not enabled and the Onboard NIC is activated then my hunch is that the printer isn't liking that extender.

Is the ethernet port physically damaged? I've been on several machines that had the port damaged to the point that the cable is no longer recognized.
I've personally never ran into a controller board that ONLY has the network function stop working.

Connect your laptop directly to the printer to troubleshoot it.

If you can connect your laptop to the extender as a test, and browse the internet , it is properly configured, and rules out the extender as the issue.

mmmhh... Depends on. I have suffered from cases that the ethernet wiring with a laptop does not detect any problem, but some thread of the crimp is wrong and the printers can not work properly. I would advise testing the cable with a tester.

The cable works because when I put it in the computer, this one has connexion.
When I connect via the printingcable on pc the printer works.

Seems the NIC is fine if you can print AND access the web interface AND perhaps run a Folder scan. Some NIC use LED only for certain informations like network speed and don't blink during transfering data.
I wouldn't bother as long as it works.

You can try and use a cheap "TP Link pocket router" to connect the MFP to your wifi. We use these (only if we must of course) without any issues with Ricoh and KM MFPs.
