I have a problem with the MP 6503 sp machine. New drum option, developer, original toner. The machine printed very well until the toner was replaced. After replacing it, it made about 2,000 copies and the print is bright. What should I do? Thank you for the tips. The machine has about 410,000 copies.

Re: RICOH MP 6503 sp. problem
I'm supposing that you mean the prints / copies are coming out light
Let's start with the basics. These are things I would do
1) machine needs to be fully serviced. And I do mean fully serviced. That includes drum unit sensors, developer unit, sensors and changing dev unit filter, transfer belt unit, optics, charge corona and grid.
2) have you put in all original spares. Generic spares will often give you the wrong reading which can lead to light copies
3) are you using original toner
4) Did you initialize the drum and developer
5) is your toner bottle turning sufficiently
6) is the machine calling for toner then shortly thereafter the toner call goes off? This is a sign of insufficient toner supply or blockage
7) what is the readings in the machine
8) how many prints was done since the last time you changed the drum and developer?
Work with those and see what results you get. Give us some feedback

Re: RICOH MP 6503 sp. problem
When was the last time that the optics were thoroughly cleaned? Dirty optics will cause the machine to think the original is darker that it actually is. After cleaning, run Auto Color Calibration in User Tools - Maintenance.Comment

with 400k prints, it was not necessary to replace the drum, instead the developer lasts about 350k, but I also replace it at 600k or 800k depending on how it behaves"loneliness is an invention of the white man, when we are alone we talk to everything around us, we are never alone" (Ojibwa)Comment

I don't remember the automatic color calibration item in this model... LolComment

Re: RICOH MP 6503 sp. problem
did you scrape the corona wires well? did you do sp developer initialization after replacing the developer?...if so, try to force the toner loading via sp, as many times as needed to achieve good quality, and do developer initialization again, at least then if it does it again figure out if it's a toner supply problem or something else.

Re: RICOH MP 6503 sp. problem
Today machine shows such codes Att file
Mechanically everything works properly.Obviousy no charging .Question what?Attached FilesComment

Re: RICOH MP 6503 sp. problem
My guess, based on the fact that the problem started after you replaced the drum, is that you did not properly reconnect the PCU and DVU to the main frame.SC306 Charge Corona Cleaner not working. Most likely disconnectedExcept for SC306, any of those hidden Service Codes will cause image quality problems as they disable auto toner control and put the machine into fixed toner control. Fixed toner control is set by default to slowly under tone.
SC361 Toner density sensor, in the DVU, error. Most likely disconnected
SC 376 & SC 378 Image Density Sensor. Most likely disconnected
SC380-51 Potential Sensor Error. Most likely disconnected

Re: RICOH MP 6503 sp. problem
for the sc306 (corona cleaner motor overload), remove the little motor from the corona block, and now you can manually move the mobile felt pad by rotating the plastic screw to the rest position (if it isn't already) and detach the front connector (it still works anyway), for the other codes: the id sensor in that version is on the machine , not on the extractable unit, perhaps not being in plain sight, you missed cleaning it, so take a look with an LED light inside, and clean everything you see well, and then check again, the 6503 is an excellent machine, (say my favorite), of usually it works well without problems, then it has few prints, it's almost new, have you updated the firmware?
a last thing...statistically, it is much more likely that the corona unit needs to be replaced than electronic board or something else, therefore, given that it is a very quick operation, I would suggest you bring another one with you, taken from another machine, since the corona unit of that series are all the same up to the oldest ones, then if you see that it doesn't do it anymore, buy a complete new corona unit (don't rebuild it) and you're good to go"loneliness is an invention of the white man, when we are alone we talk to everything around us, we are never alone" (Ojibwa)Comment

We do all what you propose to do .Yes ypu are right is very good model but I have problem with light copies.Comment

Re: RICOH MP 6503 sp. problem
MECHANICALLY EVERYTHING IS NOT WORKING PROPER!!! Yes it is charging. If it were not, you would be getting solid black sheets of paper jamming at the fusing unit.
