    Gestetner DSm415pf printing issue

I just hooked up my all in one printer to my computer and the only thing it's printing is multiple pages of random text. It wont print what I need it to. Do I have it hooked up wrong??

You didn't install the PS3 driver by any chance?

The DSm415pf does not come with PS3 by default it's a option, try the PCL5 or RPCS driver.

      ?

      You know, I haven't a clue.
I have a printing cord hooked up on the bottom on printer (not a phone type jack) and then my fax line in the top. Printing cord is plugged into same place my old printer (it's just a standard desktop printer) was plugged into. Nothing else going to/from printer now. I downloaded software. I downloaded Document Managment. My fax and copier are working fine. Dont know about scanning yet.

You need to go to Gestetnerusa.com and download the printer driver for that model and your OS. You are using a different driver than the one required.
If you are planning on setting up scanning, you should call someone to hook up the whole thing. No offense but I dont think you are qualified to set up all the functions you want.

          ?

No offense taken, you're totally right. Bad thing is I HAVE to figure it out per the man that pays the bills.
I'll do the above suggestion, let you know how that works, then ask how to set up the scanning!

                  driver/scanner

Ok, so I've downloaded the driver for the printer. It is working now.
I also downloaded the driver recommended for the scanning option but it is still not working (did the network twain). Now what?

open the application that you are using to acquire the scan and "choose the scanner" Then from the same app, scan.

I can't just hit scan and go on the machine itself?

NO, TWAIN scanning means you operate the scanner from an application on the scanning computer. The copier/scanner is just an input device.
SMB scanning is operated from the copier/scanner and doesnt require any additional software.
