Ricoh Aficio 1515 - Re smb Scanning

Can any1 give me a basic breakdown on how to setup the above model to smb scan

i'm only familiar with the newer models which you do through the addess book, i'm starting to wonder whether you have to use scan routor etc but never played with it b4

many thanks in advance for any input

This model can't scan to SMB. To scan to a folder you have to setup Scanrouter. The MP161SPF and MP171SPF can scan to a folder without the use of Scanrouter.

tbh its a Lanier LD015spf and it seems to have the option to enable smb scanning, its under protocol and smb thru the web browser

Go to the web browser and log in. Do you have the Address Book option? If not, it can't.

As far as I know the only way to scan to a folder is by using ScanRouter. The option to scan to SMB should be in the adress book, where you can fill in a location on the network. The LD015/Aficio 1515MF does not have this option in the adress book.

I tried to upload the Scanner Reference User Manual which explains everything, but I get upload errors all the time.

            hi thanks for the replys

yeh there is no smb option under the address book, its seems to be under the protocol but only has 1 location, meaning it can only be sent to 1 folder, its sounds like to me that maybe that what scan router is for, i'll have another play with it later after i give it a good kicking lol

            Cheers

I managed to get the machine working by using ScanRouter V2 Lite

but for multiple locations i think it would be less time consuming to scan to email instead if they r running there own smtp server

              Cheers

FYI... The only reason that SMB shows on this model is because you can print via SMB - it can't be used for scanning.

instead of printing using the IP address of the copier you would print via the network Name. Something like //RNP74871D/Aficio 1515

That way you can print to the machine by name, example "RNP123456\Aficio1515", instead of using Port 9100 (Standard TCP/IP Port) or LPR.

That comes in kinda handy when the customer uses DHCP for their printers, and won't set up a reservation for the machine. If the IP address changes, it won't matter.

                          Small note..

I've done this MANY TIMES. No problem. However I set it up at a customer using AT&T DSL with the 2Wire Modem/Router combo. Worked Fine till the next day. Not sure if AT&T rebooted the router or what. But SMB Printing was just fubar. Had to do the IP Route.

SMB Scanning still worked, but all the printers in the Control Panel would not come online.
