How to scan using Aficio MP 2000 Le without DesktopBinder?

As DesktopBinder is not supported on 64 bit, is there any other way to use the Aficio MP 2000Le scanner using a machine with Windows 7 (64 Bit)??

I'm unsure of the limitations (if any) of this unit vs. the MP2000?
Does it not support SMB scanning? and if not what about configuring FTP scanning with Filezilla or similar program? Outside of that, there's always Scan to email.

This machine supports SMB-scanning (Scan-to-Folder), so scanning directly to a shared folder on Windows 7 should not be a problem. The firmware should be up-to-date to scan to a Windows 7 or Server 2008.

Thank You for your replies. As I am not an IT admin or something like that, I am unaware about how to work with this machine. I am trying to use the MP2000 machine in our office for scanning documents from my laptop and not from network. I want to connect the scanner to my laptop using USB cable. But from the windows Fax and Scan, I am not able to start scan - I get message the scanner not found. I installed the TWAIN driver downloaded from Ricoh site but still I get this error. IS there any way to scan using the USB Cable to a single machine? (Win 7 64 bit) Appreciate your help in this matter.

Agreed. Only network scanning (via the ethernet port) is supported on this machine
