    Ricoh Fax 3310Le Printout Problem

    Hey guys,

When receiving fax and copying, the printouts has Black vertical lines but
when i tried to print journal/transaction information it is printing okay.

Is this a drum unit problem?

    Thanks.

Have you checked to see if the scan glass is dirty?

Copying would have black line(s) running down the page if that was the case.
Reports generated by the machine will look ok as the optics are not used.
Receiving faxes with black line(s) is not unusual either as the faxes machine the other end could have dirty optics.

Another cause could be electrical noise / bad grounding (check the paper tray grounding points).
And of coarse a worn PCU or hot roller could also give you a possible line.

DaZ covered the issues with the optics, yours and the sender's. This is where I think you need to look.

See "Cleaning the Scanner" in your advanced features book, pg 112.

Side note...... I went on about doing a white level calibration..... good thing I looked at the manual.. no such thing on this beast.

If you can print the journals and other internal reports without getting any lines, your drum unit and fusing unit are probably ok.

I agree on all points. Just make sure it's your receptions that have lines, not transmissions.

If it's receptions, it's very likely that the sender has a dirty Contact Image Sensor or White Level Reference.

If it's transmissions, it's very likely that your machine has a dirty Contact Image Sensor or White Level Reference.

You've ruled out any engine problems on your machine, so drum & fuser are fine if reports are fine.

Anything else would be very unusual. I guess I've seen a few bad CIS. Maybe eight bad CIS in twenty years.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
