Ricoh Desktop Binder software - problem

Here is my problem: I have several files saved in the document server on a Savin 4075sp. I want to save these files on my laptop so I installed Desktop Binder lite software (latest version). I connected the laptop to the machine via an ethernet cable. I can view the files on the laptop but when I try to download (copy) the file from the copier to the laptop I get a error message that says "this function not supported". Any suggestions? Thanks

As it says 'this function not supported'.

I think the Professional version can do it but only from a Scanrouter Pro document server, not the document server on a MFD.
Saying that I seem to remember on some MFDs there was a option for a 'file format converter' that's makes it possible to download off the machines document server.

But I'm not 100% sure as I've rarely used this software myself (I don't rate it).

Install the twain Driver on your PC. That will allow scanning to Desktop binder.
You can also install Scanrouter, but it is tricky to setup properly.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Thanks for the info. I have the Professional version too and I tried it but won't let me download files from the document server. This is too bad because I wanted to back up these files in case of a hard drive failure.

          Have you installed Scanrouter?
This is the best archive software with Ricoh family.
Save to a FTP location with multipage PDF and resolution settings.
It just has a problem with Windows firewall.
I can make notes to the install program if you need it.

Don't use the document server for an archive.
Print the documents out and scan them in.
The Document Server is used for common documents that you would print most often. IE fax cover pages and employment forms.
I tell all my accounts to keep one pristine original to resave or just make copies of.

Desktop Binder can be used to backup data stored in the doc server, but you cannot read it on your pc. You have to have the optional File Format Converter installed on the MFP if you want to actually pull the documents out of the doc server and edit them on your PC.

It's been a long time since I have done this, so you might want to either check the manual or the help function in the program.

I agree with Unisys, you need the file format converter, that will also allow you to download the documents fromt he web image monitor. I once heard of something else that you could do with desktop binder, try the following:
try to scan a document the regular way, using the scanner button not Document Server, and hit store when scanning it.

then open Desktop Binder and see if you can see and download the document that way.

                Good luck.

                  Hi guys,

I know this is an older thread, but I have problems with making to work Scan Router, so if you can help me, I can post more details (didn't want to write the whole story if nobody can help me).

                  Thanks,

                  Dorian

The File Format Converter (FFC) is required to download files from the Doc Server to the PC

I installed Desktop Binder V2 Professional (version 3.1.1.1) from the local account (as we usually do) on XP Pro workstation. It worked fine, but I did "small" mistake - I was keen to get it work as soon as possible, so I logged in to Scan Router from local admin account. Later, when I tried to start Scan Router from regular account they are using, I couldn't connect because. The error message I was getting stated something that administrator is already logged in and I can't log in another administrator. I logged in as local admin and tried to log out, but there was no such option. So after I lost the whole day in different troubleshooting steps, I uninstalled Scan Router, but I didn't want to uninstall Desktop Binder. I tried installing different versions of Scan Router (Pro, Lite), but no luck...

Now I think I'll uninstall the whole Desktop Binder, clean registries and start all over...

                        Is there easier way?

                        Thanks,
                        Dorian
PS: I know this is an old version, but our license agreement doesn't allow us to install newer version, so we are stuck with old one.

                          Scanrouter working with Vista

I'm trying to tell my sales force that bad news but they keep on pressing me about it.

I've tried installing it, Google searching it, and left a thread on Fixya.com about it.

Scanrouter Profession does not work with Vista. It has some limitations when working with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

If anyone knows anything different about it, let me know.

Ricoh doesn't seem to specify that.

Does it look like an ftp server is the solution?
