in MP4000(b/w) machine you can check the dip switch on I/O board then turn on the #6 or # 1 if my memory serves me right . maybe you can also check it in mpc4000. the best thing you can do is to compare the switch with a working board.

In User tools, there is a Language icon. If English is not an option, you will need the Language firmware.

He reported that the SP mode is displayed in japanese.

I agree with the dip switch settings OR maybe the marketing are settings in sp mode. Simply use the factory sheet to check the values of all relevant SPs.

usually the dip switch is loacated in the IO board.to be safe compare the switches/settings with a working machine.
