Ricoh MP C2500 User Tools Admin. Authentication

    Hi All,

I am not able to change any User Tool Settings. This machine while trying to make any user changes shows a pop up message "You do not have the privileges to use this function".
Can not change IP address or other settings to connect through Web Image Monitor.
    Any Help?

Have you logged in as the administrator?

Default username- admin ( all lower case )

default password- none ( as in leave blank )

Can not log in to machine by any way.
Log in key does not make anything. Trying to make any changes does not allow.
As you see attachment that appears upon any changes.

You said that you can't change the ip address , but can you see it? If you can, then set your laptop to that ip range and log in as the administrator. I believe if you hold down the # key while you select system settings that it will return all system settings to default. This may work better for you.

Tried using the IP address showing in the menu but does not ping with windows.
Try resetting the System setting to default but popup message appears "You do not have the privileges to use this function".

This may be set up with multiple administrators and default admin doesn't have rights to make network changes. You weren't really clear on the outcome of your attempted log in. Did you get an "authentication failed" when you tried to log in with "admin" and no password? Try and log in with "supervisor" and leave the password field blank. If that is successful, then at this point you only have the ability to reset the administrators credentials. Change Admin1 back to default of "admin" and no password *(check the other admins and make sure they are default). Back out of User Tools and log out. At this point you should be able to log back in using "admin" - no password. Now turn off Auth management.

If I remember correctly sp 5801-011 will reset all network info. Try that and see if that will work. If not I won't have any manuals until Monday. Hopefully someone else will chime in with other ideas. Good luck.

If you can get into Factory Mode, you can reset the credentials to default (will also wipe the address book).

Tried reset credentials in SP 5846 Factory Mode but nothing happened.
While pressing log in/out button on control panel a beep comes and nothing happenes.
I can only log in when I am using program key to set display defaults. At that time machine is asking to log in and I can log in with User name: admin, Password: blank.

Looking at the image you provided, the copier does not actually have an IP address. The 169.x.x.x is a "default" address that is automatically assigned, by the MFP, when it fails to get a REAL IP address via DHCP. I see that it is set to Auto-Obtain (DHCP), so what is happening is that either the network it is attached to has DHCP turned off, or the network cable and/or jack it's plugged into is non-functional. You will never be able to access the MFP through the 169.x.x.x address.

First, you DO NOT use the physical Log-in/Out button on the control panel. If Authentication is turned on, there should be a "Log-In" button in the upper-right corner, next to the Exit button when you are at the initial User Tools screen. You need to select that and try logging in with the default credentials previously provided by the other posters...

If logging in works, then move you fingers over to the Administrator tab and adjust (or turn off) the administrator and user authentication settings, and your problems will go away.

                      Thanks for the information.
Replacing a NVRAM solved the log in problem and now I can access full functions of the machine. Femaster is right, machine is not able to detect network even after assigning the static IP address and even can not ping with windows. So the problem is still there no network, it means print/scan can not work.

                      Thanks for any help.

Check SP 5-985, NIC is set to 1 (on)

Are you using the correct login sequence?

User tools, Then login, Then System Settings / Admin tools etc.

If you try to log in after pressing System Settings, it won't work.

There is a way to download and read the NVram data to get the login information.

I have provided the key in a past post.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Now the question is network does not establish. After replacing NVRAM log in issue is not there and we can change the network settings also. But still can not ping with the network and not able to print via network. Only USB printing is available.

                              Thanks and regards.
