Ricoh Aficio MP 171 Web Password

Greetings everyone!

I am a local Desktop tech and i've been setting up the Ricoh Aficios MP 171 scan to email function. I know the default Web access is username: "Admin" with no password, but when i try to log in with this one piticular copier it tells me authentication has failed. I would like to try and reset the password back to default, if someone would be so kind to help me.




PS: My expertise are on HP/Dell printers, not copiers, so any help would be appreciated!

It's "admin" (no caps) just in case you haven't tried that. Otherwise...
Try "supervisor" as the username (no password). If it works, it will allow you to click "configuration", then "program/change administrator", to set the passwords back to default or whatever you choose. Then logout, and log back in with the new credentials. Make sure to press "ok" or "apply" to lock in. If the supervisor credentials have been changed, then you have some trouble.

That also was suggested in the very first reply, and the response was that it didn't work.

Back to the topic at hand....
You have 2 options if the supervisor credentials have been changed- either of which will require a trained technician:
1: replace NVram
2: reset the machine with deep service level programming (a procedure which certainly should not be discussed in an open forum)

No, you have problem whit address book data error.
First go to SP MODE 5-846-050 then click execute , after that turn off machine and then turn on.
After this steps try to login USER:admin no password
or USER:supervisor no password , if you can login like a supervisor ther are have option to change the login administrator password.

re telling him he has a problem with address book data error, he is clearly stating he is having a problem with web image monitor log in.2 totally different things. Sorry as to the problem i have no advise to offer that has not allready been given

While he's not stated it perfectly, he's on the right track, but that SP is not available in the regular mode, and as I said in my earlier post....certain procedures should not be discussed in an open forum

5-846-50 is in normal SP mode, but AFAIK it will not reset passwords, only wipe the address book and Admin. email address. There is a factory SP that will reset the passwords, but I don't know it.

If the machine is indicating that there is an address book error on the op panel then you will not be able to get into the WIM. On very rare occasions the SP 5-846-50 will recover it, but not too likely. Nor will the other SP methods aluded to by Sandmanmac. If this is the case the address book is permanently corrupted.

Your only option will be one of two things:

1. Replace the controller board
2. If your region has good Ricoh support the local RTSM or equivalent may have been issued a special SD card from Japan that can recover the controller. Good luck with that, AFAIK our own support folks were issued one card for the country and we were told to just continue replacing the controller boards.
