    Equitrac, Ricoh PCC4

Hi guys. i have some issues..

    1. I cant completely lock down a ricoh aficio mpc2551 with equitrac's pcc4.

    2. The java function priority is set not set to java because i cant see the 'java tx' option under user tools>general settings>Function priority

    2. I am able to track copy activity with equitrac pagecounters but i cant track copy on devices that have Pcc4. These devices are ricoh aficio mpc 2551 and nrg mp 3350

    I have tried to
    1. reinstalled PCC4 on the mpc2551
    2. enabled copy to be tracked on equitrac under embedded devices>Ricoh PCC4>Tracking behaviour
    but not successful.

Anyone with ideas on how to solve these?

    Thanks!

    This should resolve your issue:

    Access SP Modes

    Set SP 5113-002 to 1
Ensure SP 5113-001 is set to 0

    Exit SP mode

    Reboot the MFD

Access User tools, logging in as the administrator if enabled.

Go to System Settings, Admin Tools, Enhanced External Charge Management and select which functions you wish to secure and/or track usage of. (DO NOT select Printer or JAVA VM.)

Ensure any other form of device authentication (User code/Key Counter Management) is disabled.

Login to PCC4 and set PCC mode to Print Copy Control.

You do have a Java card installed?

Which slot is it in and what version of JAVA is it? (This can be found in User Tools> Extended Features > Extended Features.

Hi! I'm having a similar problem as the original poster and have done all the steps listed. (I'm also using Java 7.22.00).

The main thing I'm looking for though, is to prevent users from printing without authorization and I noticed that in the section of your post I underlined, you say that you should not select the printer.

Could you explain why not? That's what I need to do, if possible.

I appreciate any help you can give on this issue--I'm a newbie with Equitac.

          Thanks!

          Steve

The PCC4 will reside on the java tx and in equitrac you need to have a license everytime you install an embedded device. After activation of the license thats the only time the device(MPC2551) will communicate with the Equitrac server. For example if you have an existing 4 MPC 3300 that are working with the present set - up then you want to add a new machine(MPC2551). You can never let equitrac track the new machine because it needs the license.

Printing should never be locked down in Enhanced External Charge Unit Management because when PCC releases the job to the machine, the authentication method will block the print job.

To stop unauthorised printing, enable access control to only accept incoming data from the IP range the print servers live on. We have a customer with approximately 500 machines and this works perfectly.
